No laughing matter

??? If I'm having little "accidents" when I laugh, cough, sneeze, exercise etc... should I bring this up to my surgeon who will be performing my TVH or do I go to my family Dr. or just leave this little "piddly" matter (pardon the pun) alone and forget about it? I keep reading about bladder tucks/tacks(?) and such things but I'm not sure what it's all about. Well sisters, any advice for this soggy princess?

Oops! I did it again.
LOL Oh No!

P.S. Thinking about you all and your in my prayers

I'm not sure what bladder tucks/tacks are either but I do know that alot of women have bladder 'repairs' done at the same time as their hysterectomies. Just think....you may be able to get that fixed if it needs fixing at the same time and aviod another surgery. I think you should talk to the surgeon about it and he/she will tell you right off the bat if you're talking to the correct Dr.

Thanks for the advice. I can get all my plumbing in order in just one visit huh? I'll ask my Dr. at pre op. I wonder what the difference is between tacks/repairs etc...

No laughing matter

I had my TVH and Birch Colpopexy 10/11/00. I decided that since I was going to be having surgery I might as well bring up the weak bladder problem that I had. The Dr. decided that I was a good candidate for the surgery so I had it done. I'm really glad I had it done, I can feel the difference already. The only down side is that I had to have a pubic catheter(ouch)and an incision. I was able to pee on my own the day after surgery so the cath was removed, the incision is pretty sore.........but I'm glad I did it........it's worth it. Take care, Kathleen

Dear Sherl,

Now is the time to discuss your stress incontinence & if it needs repairing, with your doc.

In my case, once the prolapsed uterus was removed, all the incontinence symptoms from bladder being squashed were gone. The uro-gyn (my 3rd medical opinion) who did my surgery was able to determine this at my initial consultation.

Get smart about your symptoms & your options and make the best choices for YOU.
