Surgery soon, have a cold!!!

All my worries about having surgery are now overshadowed by the thought of it possibly being postponed. Wednesday is THE day. I called my doctor last week asking for an antibiotic for a sinus infection. I started feeling better and now I feel like it is coming back!! My son is recovering from strep and today my daughter woke up with fever. I feel like I'm not going to have a chance to get well. I hate to ask my husband to care for my daughter since it is his 40th birthday today but there isn't a choice ! If I have just a little nasal congestion, will they proceed with the surgery? Hopefully my antibiotics will kick in!!!

I wonder if to some extent I am doing this to myself. I remember the day before I had my endometrioma removed I was so sick---coughing, stuffed up and miserable. My doctor said go ahead with surgery (under anethesia for three hours!!) and after surgery was totally fine--not even a sniffle!!!!

I pray that the surgery will proceed as planned!!!!!

Surgery soon, have a cold!!!

Hi Elena.....you sound just about like me with illnesses, kids and stress. Tomorrow is my hubby's 36th bday and he just ended up in the ER yesterday with kidney stones, 2 out of 4 of my kids had strep this week, and 5 out of 6 of us had the stomach flu the week before that. My surgery is scheduled for Tues., and I am terrified about getting everything up-to-date around here and making sure everyone will survive mom being down for a while. My kids are ages 11, 7, and 6 yr old twins. My advice is to complete the antibiotic if you haven't finished it....if you stop taking it when you feel better and don't take the whole course, you will have a relapse of the illness.

I hope you have a good surgery on Wednesday....we'll have to check on each other in a few weeks when we can sit in front of the computers and compare notes and feelings. I'm having a total vag hysterectomy with pelvic reconstruction to repair a large rectocele, cystocele and bladder tack. I am not used to being the one needing surgery, so this will be an interesting experience!

Good Luck!

Surgery soon, have a cold!!!

Congestion should be okay to go ahead with surgery. I had the same issue, cold and sore throat less than a week before surgery. I drank alot of fruit juices and did not do all the 'stuff' I thought I would have to before I went. I just wanted to make sure I was well enough not to be postponed. Surgery was a go and the home is a mess. Well, the one important thing got done at least, the mess will be here when I'm ready to tackle it.
