overhang

Hi Smile,
Well, what you wrote is encouraging, but did you still have a little overhang at 7 weeks?? I still get confusing info on if and when it will go away....there is that hardness still by the incision and I feel when that goes away, will help get rid of the overhang, the rest of my stomach is very flat, no problems there, its just very low and I'm going on a cruise Sun and worried that it will show with my swim suit on, OY!

overhang

Yes, I still had my overhang at 7 weeks. I believe I noticed it was gone at 10-12 weeks.

Donna

Donna,

It sounds like we have exactly the same thing going on there. My stomach too is totally flat. The overhang (pooch) thing is right above the incision and it is very hard. It actually doesn't hang, it stands straigt up it's so hard. I'm 4 weeks now and I put a bikini on just to see what it would look like if it never went away. I could notice it a little but my DH thought I was nuts. Anyways, you're a little farther along than I, so if you see a significant change please let me know.

Thanks,
Spooki

overhang? hmmmfff!

retailprisoner, we have the same surgery dates how goes it for you? im doing pretty good. everybody on this thread is talking about overhang? well, im very fat, so i have a apron anyway, i had 15 staples, and a latex drain. i was allergic to both, also home from the hospital with meds, allergic to one of them, that gave me a cough from hell. got rid of all that crap, and looks like im healing pretty good. last week i had a week of internal itching, i almost lost my mind. this week so far has been ok. i went back to gym day 8, only to do my arms and legs. im now, doing all except my abs and back extensions. my dr. gave me the ok for 6 weeks. the dr. that did my surgery checked me at two weeks, told me i had a very swollen "mons pubus" and said everything looked great, except the staples and drain, took those out, told me basically to call him if i needed to, and goodbye, nice doin business with you i started holding in my stomach at week 4, it was a little uncomfortable, but got better. yesterday, i HAD to pick up my 40 pound 2 year old granddaughter a couple of times, it didnt hurt at all. but i am not going to make a regular practice of this quite yet i hope everybody gets better. a lot of my swelling has gone away. my insicion is healed, because of my overhang ive always been a stickler for skin care in that area. my insicion is directly on the crease, so i guess i didnt have it as bad as others. last week i started using the alchohol based hand sanitizer on the insicion area,(as i did before surgery)to combat odor and germs from sweating. it does not sting, so i know for sure everything is closed and pretty much healed. ladies, all of us have been traumatized by surgery, it does get better, gosh, it cant get any worse, we all lost a body part that gave us problems. some, moreso than others. smile, try to keep your head held high, and know that time does wonders for all. thank you all for your support. and retailprisoner keep in touch. bye.

overhang

Hi Spook,
Yep, sounds like we're at about the same place and I too put a swim suit on just to see....its not that noticeable, but I think we just notice it, something that was totally flat before and now this line thing. It is so slowly going away, but I've heard it taking months. I leave this Sat for a cruise, so thats one of the main reasons I wanted it gone. I did get control top panty hose which I've never had to use before, so hopefully that will help.

Finally today we should hit the 40 degree mark, so taking my dog for a nice long walk, haven't been able to do that for 5 weeks now.

Seems to have went down a bit

Hi all hopeful overhangers,

I'm 41/2 weeks post op and my overhang/pooch has decreased again a bit. I'd say it's 50% down and has another 50 to go. About 2 weeks ago you could still see it in underwear and now you really can't. Anyways, just thought I'd put the positive on here along with the negative. I'll keep you posted.
