Fistula No Leakage?

For all the sisters that have had Fistula's, can you have a fistula with no vaginal leaking?

Fistula No Leakage?

Hi there..

This is something I've never heard of on these boards..and I've been on the boards since Aug & read fistula sisters stories from well before that.

I think you'd almost have to have some vaginal urine passing through to have a fistula b/c a vesicovaginal fistula is a channel between the 2 organs (bladder & vagina)..but I'm not a doctor or medical person so maybe I'm wrong. It's just..without vaginal leaking, where would the urine go? It'd have to leak into the abdominal cavity & I haven't heard of that happening to any sisters on these boards.

Why are you thinking fistula?

Thanks Melinda

I am reading about the repair to my repair for my bladder sling and urethral scar tissue... And this particular thing (Martius Flap) is used to correct fistula's, vesciovaginal, and urethrovaginal (sp)? And my URO believe's my urethra is stuck to the pubic bone? But I have NO leaking.

I am very very nervous about my up coming surgery. I meet with the specialist next week... So I am trying to gather my thoughts and absorb as much as I can.... So I can ask intelligent questions.

Fistula No Leakage?

Susie..

I can sure understand your apprehension about the surgery you're facing. I've read about that flap too..one sister had something similar done to repair her fistula..I think it was 'minsk'. Wait, I think they did a labial graft..that's different than the flap..I DO know that it worked and her surgery was very successful. I didn't have the flap-thing done so I don't know much about it, but I'll tell you, experienced surgeon's sure make all the difference in these procedures.

In reading your other post, again, I've got to say that it sounds like you're in wonderful and experienced hands. I don't know how far that goes in reassuring you, and I wish I had some more info to give you that would help to give you peace.

Just want you to know that I care & understand how scary this is for you. You're in my prayers sister!!!

Awesome

Melinda, your post was quite insightful. I will be getting the labial fat pad done.. So to hear of a success story is very promising. And you are absolutely right, I am feeling better everyday hearing others say "YOU WILL BE IN THE HANDS OF A SPECIALIST, and THAT FORM OF TREATMENT OFFERS GOOD POSSIBILITES" . I do appreciate the kind words..

I was curious about the fistula part, since I have read much more on this fat pad treating those, than for use with my situation. However, from what I read about the procedure, it makes perfect sense to me that it can be used for me, and be of extreme benefit..

I thank you for your input, and hugs... I am feeling more confident everyday...
