4 Wks Post Op - Oozing incision/can't sleep

I had a full hyster but kept one ovary. Endo of the uterus, outer bladder and outer colon. I am out of shape/overweight and this is the third full abdominal incision in 20 months (Endo/Fibroids/D&C - 3/02, C-Section baby 12/02, TAH 1/04)

Has anyone had issues with a "hole" in their incision oozing bloody to yellowish fluid. Not a lot, just 24 hours per day for 2 weeks now. How long does it last?

Boy, it's hot in here. My doctor doesn't want me on any hormones due to excess estrogen production. The hot flashes, night sweats and chills have me really uncomfortable. I take meds for hypothyroid. Does it take a few weeks/months for my last remaining ovary to kick in?

Also, I can't sleep because I just can't get comfortable. Seems like my entire stomach and abdomen area is just plain sore. Even on the left side it feels like a small burning sensation. I've tried wedges, pillows, and now try Tylenol PM and Motrin. Is this normal, or am I overdoing during the day? Even taking a shower, brushing my teeth and getting dressed simply exhausts me.

Lastly, seems like after 4 weeks, everyone including my husband and 11 year old, seems to think Mom is all better now and I should load and unload the dishwasher and do laundry. I am sore and my stomach feels like I've done 100 crunches throughout the day. Now, my family support group is gone, and I have been left at home 10 hours with my 1 year old son who does not walk. I have been left without a choice of having to pick him up from the crib, change him, lift him off the changing table, dress him, put him in the high chair, etc. and I believe I am absolutely not supposed to be doing any of this. At 4 weeks post-op, does anyone feel I can/should do this and it will all be OK, or at 5 weeks, should I not be doing any of this? I feel that I can lift him without any pain, but holding him or carrying him causes slight discomfort. I just don't want to hurt my insides if 4 weeks isn't long enough. Suggestions?

Thanks!

have you told your doctor about that "hole" in your incision.I had a hyst.over a year ago and I experienced no such thing.
I do not think you should lift a baby a month after your surgery.

Sounds like you need to call your doctor about your incision. I am 15 days post op from a TAH with a vertical incision, and I have one spot where it is draining, not a hole, just a sore spot and the doctor said if it is still draining next week he wants to see me then. The not sleeping sounds pretty normal, I am right there with you on that one and have read a lot on this site about other sisters not sleeping. I really have no idea about lifting your baby, again I would ask the doctor on that one.
This surgery has been so much harder than I ever expected! I never expected to still be in pain this long or feel this drained this long after surgery, but my doctor has assured me that it is normal. Call your doctor about any concerns you have, that is what they are there for. Best of luck with your recovery!
