Pain in the stomach
I am now 9 wks post op. and my recovery has been quite slow and moderately painful, but I just truly realised tonight what I had slowly come to suspect, and that is that I have been doing too much all the time although I did not think so. But I am sure that all of you ladies will agree, we are so used to doing things all the time that we forget how not do things even when we are not supposed to
What made me realise this is that I was actually emptying and refilling the dishwasher and half way through I had to stop because I had some pains in the stomack itself. I had had a painful stomach very often during the past weeks, but I automatically assumed that I was mistaken and that the origin of the pain was somewhere in the abdomen (ie lower down). But now I am much more comfortable lower down so it was easier for me to locate the origin of these pains.
Can anybody tell me why a hyst. should affect the stomach; are any connections created during surgery? or what?
Any opinion anybody?

Pain in the stomach
Hi Nicole, all I know is that my entire digestive system has been affected by my TAH. The stomach is connected to the intestines which all had to be moved around during surgery and now they're trying to find their new home inside. They say it takes 6 months - 1 year for complete healing. I wrote in another post I'm trying to stay away from dairy products because they tend to give me painful gas. You may want to go to hystersisters home page and look for articles on stomach pain...

Pain in the stomach
Boy can I relate! I'm also at 9 weeks and believe that I have been very careful, not doing too much, but sometimes I wonder. I am still generally sore all the time, but yesterday I drove into town (30 miles for me), had my taxes done, went to the bank and came home. Last night I was in pain and decided that the trip to town took more out of me than I realized, just didn't seem like that much!
I'm also sore in my stomach, startin just below my belly button and going down to near my incision. Doctor told me that even though the incision is low, they have to cut up into the stomach to remove the uterus, that's why I'm so sore in that area.
Guess we have to listen to our bodies and trust that they know how much is too much, but I'm sure tired of it.
