incision color - when will fade?

Hey Everybody,
Hope you're all feeling better today.

Question: when will horizontal TAH incision scar fade? Mine is still deep purple at almost 5 mos. Only use Vit.E oil on it at nite, when I think of it.

incision color - when will fade?

I did not have a TAH, I had a TVH on 12/1/03. But, 16 years ago,(I was 15 years old) I had major surgery. I was cut on my abdomen. The incision is about 15 inches long. It took about 5 years for my incision to fade. I put everything I could on it, and nothing worked.
I'm not sure if this is the norm or not.
I fractured my wrist last spring, had 2 surgeries on it, it is still bright red. I hope it does not take 5 years to fade.
Maybe other ladies have had better luck than me.
Good luck to you.

incision color - when will fade?

Hey calmstorm - I am now 3 months post op (TAH/LSO) and my little 4 inch horizontal scar is so fine I can hardly see it - no redness or discolouration - my doctor must has been a master of the scalpel - I also had one internal stitch which came out either side of my incision which was removed on the 4th day post op before I came home - I guess a lot of our response to scarring comes from our natural skin tone and healing capabilities - Have you tried aloe vera (pure 100%) straight from the plant if you can - it is just the best thing for scarring - better than vitamin E - its really worth a try - good luck- love Sharon xx

Lavender oil

Hi there I was just reading about the scarring, I had TAH 10/13/03 both ovaries removed and bladder repair. This was my fifth operation in 6 yrs. It has been a long 6 yrs, but nevertheless I am still here. Six months before my TAH I had a bowel resection about 18 inches off my large intestine. The incission was verticle and went from above my belly button to the top of my hair line. When the doctor did my TAH he used the same incission. I have used lavender oil on my incission, and they healed wonderfully. Even the doctor is surprised at how good they look. It should be pure 100% lavender oil. Try it, it works.
