What do Endo sufferers take???

Okay! Now I am hugely confused! Here I had it in my head that I could take the Remifemin as an alternative to HRT for menopausal symptoms but now I am reading that Endo sufferers should not take Black Cohosh!!!! I am 35 and I am scared! I would really appreciate insight into what fellow Endo sufferers are taking for their menopausal symptoms!

Thanks!

What do Endo sufferers take???

Samm,

It is so hard to say what is safe for those with endo. Some women can take estrogen after hyst and have no problems but others can't. I know my Dr didn't get all the endo. I know there is some on my bowels and on my bladder and he didn't mess in those areas. I was HRT free for 5 weeks, then started estriodiol for 4 weeks and had endo pain return. So now I am on Flaxseed, Vitimin E, Calcium, Vitex (from Vitimin Store), Holy Basil(from vitimin Store), plus I am taking anti-depressants. I am not 100% yet but I am getting there. I am having some bladder problems now so I don't know if that is endo or something else. Black Cohosh can mimic estrogen enough in the body to cause endo to grow. It all depends on what is right for You. Trial and Error is how I am playing it. Everyone is different and what works for one doesn't work for another. Good Luck and I hope you find something that works for you.

What do Endo sufferers take???

I thought my surgeon had taken out all the endo when I had my hysterectomy 3 years ago. I had been taking 2 mg estriadol for 2 years (they bumped it up after 1 mg left me with menopausal symptoms. My recent exam in December showed more endo (or so they think - I have to go in for frequent check ups) again - so my doctor wants me to wean off of it. I have been taking 1 mg every other day. I am not really experiencing any pain, except upon examination - but they found a "sizable mass" as the technician put it. I am suffering from the lack of hormones pretty bad today- I feel weepy. I have changed my eating habits to not include sweet things, caffeine, etc etc as I read that can effect endo. I started that diet for the new year. I eat flax seed as well (I like the taste believe it or not). I am losing weight (16 pounds so far) but I really could use some chocolate today. I really have the same questions as well.... will eating soy contribute to the endo problem?

What do Endo sufferers take???

Hi,

I am 34 and had the TAH/BSO because of sever endo. I was off anything for 6 months and then went on low dose estradiol, progesterone, testosterone and DHEA. I'm also taking antidepressants. I was feeling pretty good until I went back on the HRT then more bad stuff.

Now I am weening off the progesterone and estrogen because I just had blood work done and my Estrone was way too high. This was my decision and my compounding Pharmacist and Dr. agreed.

They have said that the Testosterone and DHEa will help with bone loss issues.

Now I just want to lose some weight.

I'll try to keep updated.
