I am so upset!! Any insight?

Ok ladies, I want to know if anyone can offer me some insight on this situation......

My long awaited appointment with the Gyn who did my hyst is this afternoon. I stopped by my GP's office to request a copy of my last blood work to include sugar, thyroid and cholesterol to take with me. My thinking was that my GP keeps telling me these are fine and I don't want to have to redo blood work needlessly. It has been a year since these were checked! Ack! Of course, being the nosey body that I am, I start looking at the results and my cholesterol and triglycerides are both HIGH. Then there is my thyroid results which have the TSH as being normal, but my T3 is low and T4 is high. Does anyone know what this means??????

I am so upset because this GP has been telling me my labs were PERFECT. My weight has been a big issue and he has been telling me how lazy I am. Grr! Plus, my mother (hypo) and brother (hyper) both have thyroid disease.

Of course, I will discuss this with my Gyn this afternoon, but I really needed to vent.

Hey Sweetie:

Like you needed this! Well, all you can do is wait and see what the GYN says. Perhaps when viewed in total your results are OK, but I would be just as concerned as you are about being told your results were perfect, [especially] given your family history and your struggle with your weight. Just doesn't pass the smell test, as one of my West Texas friends would say.

I your GYN appointment goes well. Let me know, I care.

Billsweetie,
I also had similar thyroid results as you did. I went to a thyroid specialist. His explanation of it was that depending on the high's and low's of each one (t3/t4) they could void each other out. But, like you, it still made me wonder since my brother had to have his thyroid radiated. And my symptoms were like hypo. That was about five years ago and things have since calmed down in that department. However, I don't know why a year would be too soon to repeat blood work.

I'm not a thyroid expert by any means, but it's my understanding that if any of those numbers are off than it is possible for it to be causing you some difficulties. I had my thyroid numbers done last year and my TSH was fine but the T3 and T4 numbers were a bit skewed (don't recall which way without digging out the paperwork) but my doc put me on a thyroid supplement and it did help with some of my issues.

This site has some great info for thyroid issues www.thyroid.about.com

I hope you had a good appt today with the new gyn. Good for you for getting your records in advance! I hope he/she was able to shed some and offer some hope.
