Femring vs Vivelle Dot Dosage Comparisons

This is probably going to be comparing apples to oranges, but thought I'd ask anyway.

I am currently on 2 of the .075 vivelle dots (.15 dose) and nightly premarin cream. I find if I don't use it every night, I dry up. I also find that I really need the full applicator. Unfortunately if I use the full applicator every night I run out before the end of the month. Plus I am currently paying $80/month for these 2 prescriptions. Thinking I could save some money if the femring would work.

Thus my interest in the femring. I have an appt on Monday to get a sample to see if this will work for me. Therein lies my question. Since the samples are only the .05 will that be enough dosage for me? I'm thinking I probably will need the .1 dose.

I'm anxious to give this a try, but at the same time don't want to mess myself up and get my hormones out of whack again.

I've been researching this as much as possible. Did I read somewhere where someone got 2 of the .05's? and did they use them at the same time? Also, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere what the daily dosing of the .05 and the .1 is, but not can't find it anywhere.

I know it's a different type of delivery, but keep thinking if I need the higher dose of the dot, I'm going to need the higher dose of the ring.

Any Advice?

Femring vs Vivelle Dot Dosage Comparisons

You can have your Dr contact his/her pharmaceutical rep for Femring and they can get you a free .1 Femring. I actually have a certificate for one in my purse right now and I'm never going to use Femring again (most likely).

Anyway, what it is, is a sticker for a free Femring adhered to the back of the actual prescription, off your Dr's Rx pad. It's definitely worth checking into.

femring doses

I think the daily dose of the .05 ring is .05 daily - same for the .1.
Were you thinking maybe of the total dosage contained in both?
That is 12.4 mg for the .05 and 24.8 mg for the .1, according to the manufacturer's info. The math doesn't quite seem to work to me, but I was never very good at computations.

I switched from .075 vivelle, first to the .05 femring and then moved up to the .1. I actually felt fine on the .05 ring, but I started to have low estrogen symptoms long before the three months were up. So, my doc said to try the higher dose. I'm exactly two months into the .1 ring, and I've had a few flashes at night the past few days. I'm hoping things will even out by week's end.

Overall, I've personally had better results with the ring vs. the patch. But I'm not sure it's going to last the full three months for me.

Good luck with your trial! Keep us posted.
