I went to our family Dr today and he thinks the chest pain is an inflamation from the recent cold and al the coughing, He gave me Celebrex for imflammation and vicodin. He is not ruling out anything more serious, but said to wait and see if it goes away. He wants me to have a routine blood test tomorrow to test for amenmia, because I have been very tired and losing blood from the monthly colon scraping. So we will just wait and see,

Debbie:

I have been praying all day that your chest pain is due to a cold or virus and not anything worse! Take it from this asthmatic who pulled a chest wall muscle from coughing...the pain from coughing can be intense and very tiring. Get some rest and drink lots of fluids....

Hi

I'm glad the doctor thinks it is inflammation and it likely will clear up. Smart idea on amenia test. Bet they find that as well. We're all rooting for you.

s Debbie

Sounds like a good plan to me. Hopefully everything will resolve and your chest pain will disappear. How are those monthly colonoscopies going?
My thoughts are with you.

Dear Debbie,
Hope you are feeling better today! I had the flu about 5 yrs. ago and it turned to pnuemonia. I coughed so hard that I dislocated a rib, and my doctor had been wondering why I asked for a refill on the pain meds! He finally did the xray of my ribs, after seeing that my ribcage was wierd looking and hurting, and it was dislocated! It still looks strange on that side If I remember correctly, the doctor originally thought it was pleuresy (sp?) but it wasn't that, but I know that is painful too. Good luck and be sure to get rest and drink your water.

So glad to hear that the doctor thinks it's just cold cough related! Hopefully, you will feel better in a few days!

Debbie,

Glad to hear that your DR is suspecting that cough as the culprit--and hopefully he'll be right! And if there's anemia, he's smart to get to that right away.

I get bad sinus attacks and post nasal stuff, and at times the coughing gets so ridiculous that it does create chest pain.

Keep us posted--thanks for the favorable update!

Blessings.

Thanks for updating us, Debbie! I'm sure your doctor would have said something if he suspected pneumonia. I do hope it's only a pesky cold. We haven't had much of a winter here on the West Coast (maybe two days of rain?), but there's still an awful lot of bugs and colds and flus going around. Some of them have been hard for friends of mine to shake.

Be sure to REST. That always helps me recover from a cold. But . . . I'm a Type A, so I have a hard time sitting still. I've always worked through colds in the past. I have the sniffles now and don't feel 100%, but I think it may be because of the Santa Anas.

Anyway, what I'm reminding YOU and ME to do is to REST.

s!
