6 weeks post op and NOW an infection?

Hi, everyone!

I'm hoping someone can tell me if anyone's had anything similar to what's going on with me- My doc is even stumped....I had my surgery jan. 6th and now I have developed an infection. On Friday, I was a little more swollen, but figured I had just done too much. Then, on Saturday, I woke up to more swelling and redness up to about 2 inches above my incision and it was hot. He put me on Levaquin and just scratched his head and said, "if I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed it." THAT made me feel great! My incision has never been opened or anything. And now, I am having a lot of abdominal pain, even pain up to my rib cage and when I lay down and get up, it takes my breath away. I have called my doc again, but he doesn't come in until later today. I would really appreciater any response because I am getting worried about this. Why an infection now?

Thanks so much!

Hi diplomat,

I know you must be hurting and upset with this new developement. I am not sure what the problem may be, but wanted to tell you I am sorry you are having this.

I think it is good that you are keeping in close contact with your concerning this. It doesn't sound like something that should be going on.

Let us know what he says. Hopefully he will investigate further and treat it if need be.

Suzyq23,

Thank you for your words of encouragement. That's one of the things i love about this site....Even if no one has answers, there's always encouragment and concern...And with everything going on at such a fast pace, it is truly appreciated.

The doc said to give it a couple of days and give the antibiotic time to work. With a family to raise, that's easier than it sounds!I just feel so discouraged. I am tired of hurting and i'm impatient.
Patience is not my strong suit!

Thanks again....
