Just told today

Hello all. I am new to this sight. I was just told this morning that I will be having a hysterectomy. I don't know at this time if I will be having a full or partial. I am sort of numb. I don't know anything at this point and that is the hardest part. I have been waiting for answers since December 23rd when they called me to tell me that I had had a "bad pap". I have since had 2 biopsies. I now have a 3rd scheduled for the 24th. They were not able to tell how far the cancer had spread from the last one and need to know in order to know how much they need to take out. I am 35 years old and have 3 children ages 11, 9, and 7. I am scared but have to keep it together for the kids.

Wow it sounds like you have a lot to deal with right now. Just be sure to ask your doctors a lot of questions. When it has to do with your body you have that right. Don't be embarrassed to ask anything.
Good luck and I will be praying for you.

Get yourself a notebook and write every question you have, even if it seems like a silly one. Keep that notebook with you when you go to the doctor's office. Ask every question. If you think you may forget the answer, write it down, or better yet, bring a companion with you to hear what you might not. You must be your own advocate.

There are alot of women on this site that have experienced the bad pap/cancer/hyst. Like you, I am in my thirties with three kids and had the cancer/hyst. It is scary. Being informed helped that, for me. I found great information and support here on this site.

Hi,

Glad you found the sight. It has been a tremendous support for me. I'll be having LAVH on March 23.

I too am in my 30s with three kids. It is tough trying to keep it together for them. Mine too are old enough to understand what's going on and they have lots of questions and concerns. Make sure you have a good friend with big shoulders to lean on and always know that you can vent here.

HUGS!!
Debbie
