8 days of work-12 days until surgery and running out of time!

Hi ladies,
First I must say that this site has been a wonderful for me. I really like to read, and with a LAVH coming up on Nov 3rd, I have been reading as much as possible. I have only eight days of work left and I think I am feeling the "running out of time" bug. I have been really good about making lists of everything that needs to be covered at work while I am out, but I still don't feel ready. I have worked at the same place for almost 13 years, and work is being great about all of this, but I still feel guilty about leaving for so long. I will truely miss working.

One thing about all of this stressing I am causing myself, is that my house has NEVER been cleaner. I have a large old farm house and it just seems that it is never really clean. Well, I certainly can't say that now. All this force driving me to "get it done" has worked two fold. One, it has kept me from worrying about my trip to the castle, but it has also brought out a beauty in my house that I forgot I had. Isn't it funny how you loose sight of somethings and don't even know it. I have a number of terrific things and people in my life and with this upcoming surgery, it has made me remember that!

Support and love are truely a wonderful thing!

As for now, time is running.... so must I

thanks for listening! Jane

Jane-
Sounds as though you have accomplished alot more than I did pre-op. I cooked my butt off and froze 31 meals so that I would not have to worry about cooking. As for cleaning, I did my room really well where I would be recovering, but the rest of the house, well I just did my normal routine.
Believe me once you are home from the hospital you will not be missing work, at least not the first 2 or 3 wks. You will be busy concentrating on your recovery.
As far as feeling that you have gotten every thing done that you want to before surgery, give it up, lol. None of us ever get done what we think we should have before we go in. Don't obsess over it like I did. The night before my surgery I was up at 2 a.m. still doing laundry. I had to be at the hospital at 6 a.m. I don't know what happened but all of a sudden I thought to myself, who cares if the dust bunnies are out in full force, who cares if the dishes are piled to the ceiling and wash is overflowing. Who cares if there is dust everywhere. You bet that there will be dust on everything the week after surgery anyway.
So DH has run the vaccuum twice now, done the dishes every night, and did wash twice. I refuse to do anything but work on getting better. The only thing I will do is dust the TV or computer cuz those things are important, lol.
Good luck to you in the next few days. You will be going through all kinds of thoughts and feelings until your surgery. Just know that this is normal, and we have all been there.
