pre-op dry heaves..2 days till surgery...

Hi there ladies in waiting! I'm scheduled for my TAH-BSO Wednesday the 25th, (it's Monday the 23rd now). I've known about surgery for approximately 2 weeks. I am an emergency room nurse, living & working in south Texas. What family I have left, (siblings) all live in Oklahoma & are unable to be here with me. I'm divorced for 14 years now. I'm alone, but DO have friends and co-workers here who will HOPEFULLY check on me after surgery. I registered with this site not too long ago, and have found it to be a GOD-send! I sit here and CRY at some of the stories I have read, bc I empathize SO much with all of you!!! I am VERY much looking forward to my surgery, but have to say..my nerves are getting the best of me. I'm having my TAH-BSO after being diagnosed with fibroid tumors, ovarian cysts, & endometriosis. I'm now 37, & had a lap tubal 3 years ago. I've been nauseated for pretty much the past 2 weeks, since finding out for sure I'm having surgery. I'm scheduled to work tonight, (work 12 hour shifts nights in ER), but once again am nauseated. I go to see my doc in the am to sign my permit, then to the hospital for lab work, & to find out who does my anesthesia. I really wanted to say thanks to ALL of you for sharing your stories..bc I now know that I'm NOT alone in all this. I'm taking my laptop WITH me to the hospital so I can keep in touch if I'm not TOO loopy. Please know that THIS nurse is scared to pieces, and empathizes with ALL who have gone through, or will go through what I'm fixing to experience, and my heart & prayers go out to ALL of you!

Just wanted to wish you luck with your surgery. Maybe you'll get some extra tlc at the hospital since you work there. Good Luck on Wednesday!!

Will be thinking about you on wednesday and saying a prayer for you. It will be okay. I am 10 days post-op and feeling pretty good. Nurses were wonderful in my hospital. Very caring re pain medication. It is not as bad as you think. The worst part is the waiting. Try to calm down and think to yourself that in a week it will be over and you will be on the road to recovery. Take care and all the best!!!! Your friends will be there for you.
