I admit it! I know nothing! Help!

I've been all over the sites, and decided to just ask the durn questions.

TAH/BSO Feb 11th. Home now for 9 days. No HRT, pain meds, nothing. I've become a pussycat! I just asked my DH, and he's confirmed it. I'm not having hot flashes, night sweats, or any problems whatsoever.

What gives? Am I a new species? I'm a true..Scottish blooded, red-head, married to a French-Canadian. Our spats are roof raising (so's the making up)! All I've done is smile, and thank him for his efforts around the house.

Could someone pls explain things to me? Did the removal of my ovaries REMOVE a hormone that tweaked my temper? I'm unable to see my gyn until Mar 11th, and even then, will not be able to have much of a discussion with him then...I'd only had 1 consult with him prior to surgery, and did not learn until the day of surgery that his wife has passed away a year earlier from a cancer (type and location identical), that I survived 18 yrs ago. We're both VERY awkward around each other. He's recolating Mar break, so I think I'll just stick with my GP.

Long story, sorry. Any answers?

TIA Cheers Georgy

Well georgy, doesn't sound like anything to complain about does it?!!! good for you!

Did your dr start you on hrt immediately or are you "cold turkey"?
How old are you?

I have heard that it takes a little while for the hormones that are in your system to disappear, so maybe you had a good supply built up??

It is a bit unusual to hear about someone without their ovaries to be doing so well - but then again, the ones who post are usually the ones who have had some troubles.

Maybe your post will pull out some more positive reports.

I hope you stay on this happy road to recovery!

I am the same.....almost no pain meds, no HRT, no hot flashes, no swift anger....nothing. My Dr said I may be one of the lucky few who does not need HRT....I hope so. Just be happy that everything went so well. I did talk to my Mother who said she did not exhibit any probs for three months. My Dr said I should have experinced something the second or third day due to the hormone drop.....so far nothing.....and I am totally thrilled.

Not every woman experiences menopausal symptoms.

You didn't mention the reason for your surgery, so if you were bothered by symptoms before that could be the reason for your moodiness. Or perhaps you did have a hormonal imbalance that has been alleviated by surgery. I'd ask the doctor, though I don't know if they'll have a better answer. I still have ovaries but my PMS improved- my doctor had no idea why.

I admit it! I know nothing! Help!

Hi I had a TAH/BSO 4 and a half weeks ago and although I am having hot flashes and night sweats I have found myself to be a lot more even tempered too. I rarely get angry or shout now. I see my Gyn next week to discuss going on HRT as we delayed it due to ENDO.

I have a question for WACHUSETT !!!

Hi
you responded to a post "I admit it! I know nothing! Help!"..and in your post you said that your "PMS" improved...i was wondering how long it took for your "PMS" to improve after you had your surgery?...Thank you

I admit it! I know nothing! Help!

Hi!

It seemed like it was right away. I couldn't tell anymore when my period was... before surgery my emotional state always let me (and my family) know. My next door neighbor said her PMS got better right away-she had one ovary removed.

I am now 4 years post op and have only yelled at my husband once since that time! (before surgery it was almost every day).

Best wishes and stay well!

My surgery was 2/16, and so far I've noticed no hormonal difficulties. As of yet my inner child hasn't started playing with matches, which is a good thing from what I've heard about hot flashes!
I was diagnosed with Bi-Polar Disorder in 1998, and since the surgery I haven't experienced that fierce emotional "drivenness" that seemed to always be there even when my moods were stabalized. I haven't experienced depression, anger, haven't wanted to take out the first guy I saw, etc. I have to admit that I'm not comfortable with the apathy that has set in though. Before the surgery I was so upset that my db and sil were being so inconsiderate, now after the surgery they haven't changed, it's just that it just doesn't matter to me right now. So far nothing has lit my fuse so to speak. I just hope that I haven't turned into a "Stepford woman".
