Hormones with ovaries?

Hi. I had my LAVH in November, and kept both ovaries. However, I am having night sweats, hotflashes, and waking up at night. I dont have mood swings, but do seem to be gaining a little weight. I know my ovaries work some, I feel it when I ovulate, but can you need HRT with ovaries? I was on the Pill till surgery to try to contriol bleeding. Should I maybe go back on the pill?

Hormones with ovaries?

i have 1 ovary and i am vivelle patch. I know that i was having hormone problems before my hyst 3 yrs ago but no one would listen to me.My problems started after i had my tubes tied in '96.anyway 2 wks after my hyst i started having vag.burning.Nobody would even listen about hormones because i still had 1 ovary.Made me so mad.I have had all my levels(thyroid,hormone)checked so many times it is pathetic.finally i went back to my gyn and she said i am in perimenopause and put me on a patch.it really helps.i get sore breasts but when i take my patch off, i start having the flashes and so on that i have to put it back on.i would find a dr that will go by symptoms because most will not put you on hrt unless your blood work tells them to.good luck.

Hormones with ovaries?

Have read ovaries can shut down temporarily or permanently after surgery. Guess they know they have no use if there is no uterus. (ha) Anyway, the following website and attached discussion group all about Surgical Menopause addresses this and many other things.

<admin snip: Please re-read website guidelines>

Good luck
