I would call the on-call doctor or go to the ER... anything with puss, pain , and a bad smell should be looked at right away. Do you have a fever? Please contact the on-call doctor as soon as possible for direction.

Let us know what happens. I hope everything is OK.

Yes, you need to call your dr and let him know. he will probably give you antibiotics.

don't panic--i'm sure it's something relatively minor that some rx and treatment will cure.

take good care of yourself.

supra pubic catheter?????

hI Christy,
I agree with the other ladies...call/see the doc asap. I had 'discharge' from the hole where my sp cath was pretty much everyday, but it was more yellowy and doc said it was normal. HOwever, it didn't smell and that was something i checked for everytime i cleaned up that spot. Like fluffy says, you probably need some antibiotics and that should do the trick. (you'll also feel better once you've seen him/her). Post to let us know how you make out. thinking of you

supra pubic catheter?????

Dear Christy,

I was on Bactrim after my most recent surgery and developed an infection and had to be switched to a different antibiotic... I hope everything is OK. Do let us know.

Hi Christy,

The antibiotics you are on may not be specific against the particular bacteria that has caused the pus around the catheter. It does sound like a localised infection but a change of antibiotics specific to that should help. Please see a Dr as soon as possible and let us know how you get on.

Hi Christy!

I am glad to hear you got the infection looked at and it sounds like the Dr acted promptly to treat it. I do hope that is the end of any problems and you have an uncomplicated recovery for the rest of the time. Take things easy and keep letting us know how you are!
