reassurance vs. pity party

Hi i am new to the site. i am three weeks post op TAH/BSO. i have a few areas i guess i just need reassurance in. before surgery i thought that i would be back on my feet and ready to return to work by now, but i still am so sore and tire so easily. i had originally told my boss i would be back to work by four weeks---silly me! now i feel guilty about telling her i need another week or so. the funny thing is i am a nurse--so i know better. also does anyone else feel that they are a babbling idiot after surgery?
i used to feel confident that i could carry on an intelligent converation, but now i am not so sure! lol! help me

I feel your pain sister, I too feel like a babling idot 4wks and 4 days post op...No sleep will do that to you...I am a really smart person but I am having a really hard time concentrating and i tire sooo easily...like you I assured everyone that even though my Dr wrote 6 to 8 wks on my FMLA paperwork, that would bounce back and be back in 3 wks....HA Ha....I too feel guilty...

I had thought I would be Superwoman, too, but I'm grateful for this time to really rest. Every woman I know who's had hyst. has told me to take all the time I need to get well.

Babbling idiot? Oh, yeah! My DH laughs with me all the time about the stupid things I say, and if we couldn't edit these posts ---?
I remember that he was the same way after his bypass surgery 4 yrs. ago, and I blame it all on general anesthesia, plus all the energy being diverted to healing. It does get better, though.
