pelvic floor pain when running and more

I just typed a message re above, but think I may have erased it by accident - sorry if this post 2x!

After a slow healing from a TAH BSO on Sept 15, 03 for stage 4 endo (didn't even know I had it until June!) I finally got full activity clearance on Jan 20th. I had been given the ok to start slow swimming mid Nov, and nordic skiing the end of Dec, but now I could run!

Long story short is that I've only run 3 times since then - each time I I have post run pain in the pelvic floor. It actually feels like something (organs?) have fallen down and are pressing against my pelvic floor. This time it seems like the pain is not going away (took about a week each of the other 2x). In addition, a hemrhoid that popped out 9 weeks post op is aggravated by this pressure. I'm back on the prune juice.

After finally feeling decent for most of Jan and part of Feb, the last several weeks have also been painful on both the external and internal incision sights. I'm wondering if the endo is back or if this is linked to the pelvic floor pain. It is a tenderness, sometimes a burning sensation.

Just when I thought I was finally coming out of the woods...

Has anyone else expereinced either of these?

HI Juggles,
I don't have exactly what you are talking about, but I have noticed that when I try to move to a new level of exercise I do have some discomfort for a few days (I'm now at about 8 months post op)..... not burning but pretty strong aches.

How far are you running?
Does it hurt less if you run less? --

My reaction would be to contact the doctor --- it could easily be the "simple" stress of your innards being jolted - but wouldn't it be nicer to have the dr's reassurance?? and if, heaven forfend, it is something more, well then you can take action towards fixing it.

good luck.

running-pelvic floor pain & burning on incision

Thank you for the reply - and I appreciate you sharing being 8 months post op and still getting aches with new levels of activity. Sounds like I may have more healing ahead. When I think about being told (before surgery) that in 6 weeks women can begin to return to regular activity I could laugh (or cry...)

I ran 4 miles the first time, which was probably too much. I had been nordic skiing quite a bit since the end of December, so thought I was ready when the doc gave the ok late Jan. Achy pain for a week then. Waited another week or so after, then tried 3 miles. Achy for alomst a week again.

When I called the doc office I was told to cut my activity in 1/2 until I see another doc in the office near the end of this month. Change in docs is my choice - and is another whole story.

In the meantime I am trying to get in to see a PT specializing in pelvic floors. She says she sees alot of post hyst women, and that I may have something resting (pushing down on) the vagina as organs resettle into the new space post surgery. Also, that many women have thinning of the vaginal wall so it collapses (to a degree). This may be strengthen with specialized exercises.

I had stage 4 endo, so the buring sensation along the internal and external incision sites gives me pause. I don't know if it's related to the pelvic floor pain or not. I've started taking 3 ibuprofen later in the day when the buring gets more intense, and that seems to help. I also think some activity helps (walking, swimming) and getting up from my desk at work to walk around abit.

Blessings for a full recovery.

Hardly nits.

Tell me more. Is it the running or the burning along the incision sights , or...? Have you seen you doc, and if so, what did he/she say? Any information and/or sharing of your experience would be helpful!

pelvic floor pain when running and more

I wasn't running, I was moving a heavy piece of furniture. ---Sliding it across the floor.
I thought, I'm nine months post-op. I'll be fine. I had alot of pressure in my crotch area. (pretty, huh?) It felt like all my organs were going to fall out. Sometimes I feel like I have menstrual cramps, too. My DH thinks I need something to complain about. (I had endo. with PAINFUL periods). Maybe part of me thinks he's right. Who knows??
The worst part is, I thought the healing was all behind me.
I go to the Dr. the end of the month. Are you on HRT? I'm having trouble focusing when I read sometimes, I'm very forgetful, now (I used to pride myself on my good memory) and I have a short fuse.
Please help!!!

I know what you mean. It seems like the healing is unending. How long have you felt like your organs are falling out? It's been almost 3 weeks for me. I'd felt something like this earlier - in Nov/Dec, but not as extreme and it went away then..... I really that I'd turned the corner in January.

Yes, I am on HRT. My vaginal cuff was healing so slow and drying out that there was talk of having to recut and suture. Give me the patch I said. Apparently it has helped as at my Jan 20th check only about 10% wasn't healed. Maybe that's what's giving me trouble now? I use the combipatch .05 estrogen .25 progestorone.

Sometimes I think my doc thinks I just like to complain, but he has no idea what this feels like!

The pain only lasted a couple of days. Now if I do anything strenuous it acts up, and I have to stop.
I was on the patch, but it gave me a rash! Now I'm on premarin .625. maybe that has to be adjusted.
Is there a suppository that you can use for the dryness? I think K.Y. makes something. At least to give you some relief, until it all get straightens out. I'm so sorry you may have to go through that! After all you've been through. Sometimes you have to go through tough times to get to the really good times!
How long will that recuperation be?
