Wheely Wonderful Wednesday the 3rd!
Hello To All My BEST Friends
Yes, it's me. I'm back from the northern snows. We got home on Sunday - but it's been sooo hectic I've only just had time to pop in and figured I'd start the day's thread.
Sandy - well all I can say is >>>>>> Cyber High Five <<<<<<< to you! What an accomplishment. You deserve all the kudo's we can heap on you.
Ann - what a terriable tragedy. My prayers are with you, DH, and the families of your friends.
Nano - welcome, I look forward to getting to know you.
Sharon - your so sweet! Thanks for asking about me. I've been MIA because DH and I still took our mini vacation to Vermont (even with his broken arms). Enjoyed spending time with my family - dad, his DGF, my aunt and a cousin I haven't seen in years. Lots of snow, but sunny and warm (in the 40's during the day). Alas, no skiing for us this year. Boo Hoo.
I had a nice time in VT and the highlight was meeting Bliss!! She was so nice and we had a great OP (except for the few chips I did eat) lunch at a wonderful Micro Brewary in Bennington. No beer for me or Bliss - iced tea and water were our choises, lol.
I will post the pics when I get my computer back. YES girls - I will be off line for a while. My computer is in the middle of a hissy fit and is going in for an attitude adjustment tomorrow ( later today). That's why I am on so late - getting all my files and pictures off. But it's an ordeal when the stupid thing is acting up and freezing all the time - has taken me hours.
PLUS, I am trying to hold it all together. Life in our house is getting a bit over whelming at the moment. With DH's broken arms, DD getting detentions at school, doctors offices leaving "urgent" messages for me to call them back - I have an appointment with PCP tomorrow cause my pulmonary function studies (he says) say they found asthma? The tech was a friend and she said everything was just fine - I even saw the "normal limits" report on the readout. Plus the GB surgeon called and wants me to have a cardiac clearance so I have to have another doc appt!!!! Urgggggggggg! It's sooooooo frustrating!
I think the EKG showed what it did cause I am simply exhaused!! And the fact that the dip-do who did it, didn't have the leads in the proper places - and when I asked her to move them, she refused - said all was fine. Yea right! I do um all the time at work - I know what's right and wrong. Another waste of time with another doctor! Geeeezzzzzzzz. All it showed was some "non specific" wave form changes. Dahhhhh, many of the leads were over bony parts - not gonna get good readings that way.
OK - thanks for letting me start the day with a hugh WHINE!! I'll post the pics of Bliss and myself after my computer comes home duly adjusted with a new attitude, lol.
I'll miss you all - maybe I can borrow someone elses puter one evening - I'll have to look around at my neighbors, lol.
Hugs to eveyone -
Melissa

Wheely Wonderful Wednesday the 3rd!
Good morning, didn't expect to be at the computer at this hour, but the lock on my door is broken and I couldn't get into my room last night. So I improvised, grabbed some sweats from my summer storage, and slept in one of the guest rooms (every monastery has 'em), and will have to camp out until I can get the locksmith in, hopefully first thing this AM. Irony is, I have never locked that door since I accidentally locked myself out of that room last Dec, but because I was going to be out all day yesterday, I decided to lock it. Dumb. When I tried to get back in, the key wouldn't even go in all the way, the same key that has always worked in that door. I tried to jimmy the lock open back in Dec, and probably damaged it. Fortunately, most of what I need to get through the daily routines (extra clothes, toiletries) I have either in storage or in my travel bag, which are NOT in the locked room. And there's a washer to throw stuff in. So it could be a lot worse.
Sorry to be so long off-topic but....
OP? Well, with my company being here yesterday I ate lots of stuff I wouldn't ordinarly combine, but overall at least I didn't overdo it. I can actually put down a pizza slice halfway through now and say, I'm full, do you want the rest of this? And breakfast was the usual oatmeal etc. No real exercise, though, outside of a little walking to stores and a movie (The Passion)
Well, time to go to Morning Prayer and Mass. See you later maybe, but probably not till tomorrow.
Melissa--Missed you!
Blessings.

Wheely Wonderful Wednesday the 3rd!
Morning sistas!
Nano, welcome!! I think you're gonna like it here. This is a wonderful group of women & the BEST support you'll find.
We can do this together, Nano!
Melissa, welcome home! AWESOME that you & Bliss were able to meet!!! Can't wait for the pics. You have some busy life, my dear. Good for you for being in the micro-b and having tea & water!
Marl, Wouldn't ya know that the first time in ages you lock up, somthing goes wrong? I'll admit that my first thought was "Why lock your room in a monastery?" Then I realized Sr. Mary Klepto can reside anywhere! Love your breakfasts. You are strong, I think I can safely say I have NEVER put down an uneaten bit of pizza & walked away.
Today is packed with errands & stuff so that should keep me busy. Plus I have NO cash so that'll keep me out of the drive thru! lol.
Will take nuts & waters & stuff in the car with me. It's like being a toddler, only better. Instead of carrying baggies of cheerios I get tins of cashews. And my pants stay dry. lol.
BEST of everything to you ladies. Can't believe it's already Weds. CHAT night tonight!!!!
See ya there!

Melissa I send my and ers, life is most definitely overwhelming at times without a doubt........... We at best are "whine ready" ...........you need to decompress..........
Well, off and running and look for a successful OP day, especially since there is NO time for meals during a 14 hr class session on Wednesday, just OP snacks to perk the energy option in my brain.......

Wheely Wonderful Wednesday the 3rd!
Hi gang --
Just a quick note.........hope to see many of you in CHAT tonight!!
Not much to report here.........as usual I'm very OP with my exercise and not so OP with my food. I'm going thru one of those phases where I seem to be constantly craving something sweet. I should never have baked that peanut butter cake (posted the recipe last night) and am hoping to give most of what is left of it to the neighbors today!!
We're still getting bits and pieces of news about our friend's tragic accident, and still somewhat in shock. The funeral is Saturday and dh and I will be going. I'm going to be a bundle of nerves next time dh has a tournament and I'm sure all the other wives will be also. We've rec'd several emails and phone calls from members of our fishing groups as everybody is trying to come to grips with this.
The good news is my TMJ pain has gotten much better in the past couple of days .........that was the worst flare-up I've had in a long time..........now I'm wondering if I'm brave enough to try cutting the meds in half, as the doc said I could do when the pain got better, if the fatigue is still getting to me........and it is. It's great to be out of pain, but not great to feel like I can't hold my head up by mid-afternoon, and because I'm so tired, it's like I have no patience with anything or anyone.........unfortunately dh bears the brunt of that Hmmmm I'm sitting here thinking that it seems like I've been craving sweets since I started back on the blood pressure meds...........could there possibly be a connection? Hard to tell, sweets have always been my downfall anyway.
Xena -- you crack me up.............St.Mary Klepto, indeed (is she the patron saint of kleptomaniacs?!?! Is there a St. Margaret Insomnia for insomniacs?!?! BIG apologies Marl I just couldn't resist!!!)
Well so much for a quick note........ will check back later and talk to you tonight!!
Ann

Wheely Wonderful Wednesday the 3rd!
Good Morning
Feeling great today, I like this feeling a little better everyday stuff. Off to the Y for water jogging, I promise not to overdo it. I wish I could join your chat but will be at church with family, DS is in confirmation and it is required during lent, as well as my DH and I are both mentors to other kids in his class, so we all go together. How about if I pray that you have a productive, supportive chat?
I can relate to the frustration of your lockout Marl, I once drove DS to school in my jammies and came home to locked doors and no cell phone. The neighbor still laughs about it.
Have a great OP day!

Wheely Wonderful Wednesday the 3rd!
Wow, you ladies are in rare form today! Is there a saint for those of us who need help staying OP? I could use one to help me get through the first 2 weeks of the SBD. Eggs are starting to get to me. Well, I was all psyched to see my doc today for I have some questions and they just called and cancelled my appt. until next Wed. I guess they can wait until then. Yesterday, I started my walking routine back up again. I am going to walk at least a half hour a day on the days I don't go to Curves. It was so nice to get out and not have to walk around snow piles and icy patches. Temps have been in the 50's so I hope spring sticks around. But where I live, huge snowstorms have been known to come around the middle of March. One year, my kids missed a whole week of school.
Ann..........my sympathies!
Melissa.............. s
Nano............welcome sweetie!
Marlene...........here is an extra :key: from me.
xena..........you rock!
Chris.........I don't know how you do what you do! God bless!
Take care all and have a great Wednesday! Please stay OP, exercise and drink lots of water.

Wheely Wonderful Wednesday the 3rd!
Morning ladies! Thought I would pop in while it’s a bit slow this morning at the office, with a few little random Q’s. It’s a PMS week for me so yes, I’ve been struggling with staying OP. I also feel bloated and just overall ick … although my clothes continue to fit better each day. (a sweater I mentioned being tight when I bought it after Christmas and fitting better, now can be worn with a long sleeve t-shirt underneath.) Exercise and water continue to be going strong for me. I forgot my book last night cause I was in a hurry to get downstairs and change a wiper blade while the rain had let up … that sucked since it made walking on the treadmill and riding the bike rather boring without it. Tonight is I was not sore at all with the increase in weight and the low reps, but tonight the reps go up just a notch.
Not so random Q’s:
Welcome Nano64! Enjoy your exercise at the Y!
Ann: interesting connection … maybe the sugar cravings are trying to combat the feelings of fatigue your body is feeling? DSw mentioned not long ago when he was having all the gallbladder problems and not sleeping much he was practically living on regular cokes thinking the caffeine & sugar were keeping him going.
Emily: hang in there. You might try thinking about having some out of the norm things for breakfast. Like lean meats and such. I gave SBD a try for a few weeks but it is way too restrictive me. I did have a good weightloss those few weeks, and that's what got me to go back to JC. Hang in there, just think of how abfab you will look at the wedding if you stick to it!!
Okay, so there’s been some chatter about comfort foods. I had read up on this a while back so today I did my search again and will post just a few tidbits. My source is “About.com” it’s the next best thing to google in my opinion. You can find out “about” nearly everything on this site.
Soooo, putting in the phrase “comfort food cravings” one gets a lot of articles back, but there is a theme to them.
A few articles had these basic sentiments:
“When we are anxious or fearful, we fall back to foods we associate with times of losest stress – that is, with childhood.”
“Comfort foods are what we ate at Grandma's house, after a long day at school, or what Mom served when we were sick.”
“As adults, we relish flavors from the comforting past. These foods take us back to a time when life was easier and someone else made the hard decisions.”
Article why we crave comfort foods
Have a BEST day ladies! I’ll try to make chat … though may be a smidge late!

Wheely Wonderful Wednesday the 3rd!
Hi everyone. I've been MIA because of extreme busy-ness but have sometimes been lurking....scary thought, isn't it???? I wonder if any men lurk here?
I had a fabulous weekend in Cape May at the woman's retreat. We were in a fabulous hotel and I had the most deluxe room with a lovely ocean view. It was in the 50's and walking on the beach was absolutely wonderful - I took a two hour walk with a DF on Saturday and a shorter one on Sunday before we had to leave. Ah, Melissa, I wish you could have come over, but I'm glad you had a great time in Vermont.
I have been too busy to exercise, but I'm hoping to sneak over tomorrow night and maybe tonight. My dear doggie probably hopes I'll have time to walk her - we have an invisible fence, so haven't been walking her too much, poor thing. But now that the weather is decidedly Spring-like, there is really no excuse.
After a few breakfast pastries and desserts at the retreat, I decided it was time to get serious and do some days of SBD Phase I. This is day 3 of that and I'm doing OK. I'm still stuck at the 20 pound mark (really the 18-20 pound mark, depending on the day), so I'm trying to get a running start in the right direction. My DD and I will be going to Texas a week from today for her fencing tournament and I'm planning on enjoying some Mexican food and margaritas, so for now I am on "short rations".
Xena: you are sooooo funny.....I agree with you on the pizza and not walking awy in the middle of a slice. I belong to the clean plate club, but at least I don't go as far as my DH who has always eaten the leftovers off of the kids' plates (including pizza crusts). He's even been known to munch on half-eaten chicken wings off of their plates (gross, but true!)
We're having a dinner at our house on Saturday with 50 guests expected....it's for my husband's work and the good part is that it is catered and paid for by his department!!!! They show up and do everything - set up, serving, clean up. I warned my husband that I might get used to this kind of treatment The menu is pretty safe and I'm hoping for leftovers so that I don't have to cook for a couple of days.
Pat
