Officially a LIW

Well, surgery is 3/15 at 11:30am....but doc put on my work papers that today would be my last day (he wanted me free next week to complete pre-op testing,etc...and getting ready mentally)....insurance gave pre-cert - so I guess all is a go...now I get to sit here for 10 days and probably panic...I'm having LAVH including ovaries, tubes and cervix, A&P repair, and bladder sling - heck, if they are going in there, they might as well do everything....but I'M SOOOO NERVOUS NOW

Dear HeadsUp

I am so glad my doc didn't do that - i worked until noon of day before surgery. I too had LAVH/BSO w/a&p. Mine was 2/18 and I am feeling great! Only things slowing me down right now are hard chairs and my stamina.

I had surgery morning of 2/18 and was headed home at noon on 2/20. Worst part of that was having the catheter for a week, but DH stayed home with me and friends brought us meals for most of that week.

I had never had major surgery prior to this so had no idea what to expect. I am glad to report that it isn't nearly as bad as I was afraid it could be. I just have to remember my stamina is not 100% yet.

Don't fret - - if you go in with a good attitude that is such a big factor. Don't shy away from the pain meds. They are offered for a reason.

I will pray for your anxiety and that the surgery itself will go well.

Doc just told me I have to have cath for 2 weeks after discharge, so I'm not looking forward to that one either...as far as meds go...I already told my husband - "day of surg, if I'm asleep, click that baby every 10mins. so I don't wake up" :-)
