Bladder and Yeast Infection

I went today for my post op appointment and had a bladder and yeast infection. I have never had a yeast infection before and have always known before when i had a bladder infection. I guess I didn't notice it this time with all of the bladder pain from the TAH.

Anyway, does anyone know if this is common after surgery and will i get them frequently now?

Bladder and Yeast Infection

I also got a bladderinfection. My doc says it is very common because of the catheder. I was put on cipro. It seems to be helping. I see you also had a TAH, are you having any sensation above your incision? I am . My insides do not hurt very much at all but about a 1/2 inch above my incision does. Please let me know if you have the same. I think it my be the nerve endings healing but I am not sure.

Bladder and Yeast Infection

It's not uncommon to have after surgery, from what I understand. I had a bacterial infection and a yeast infection, but no bladder infection. (I've been prone to yeast infections for years, so that aspect didn't surprise me.)

A yeast infection is simply an overgrowth of beneficial yeasts that reside in the vagina, and very often antibiotics can cause this overgrowth. I have no idea whether you would now be more likely to get them frequently -- I'd say, ask your doctor. I do know that limiting your sugar intake helps reduce the likelihood of yeast overgrowth, and that there are other dietary recommendations, but again, I'd ask your doctor.

Sending good wishes your way,
=e

Yes i have pain the same as you above the incision. Mine is mainly on the left side though. I was feeling pretty good until I went to the Dr today (besides the bladder and yeast infection) until he felt felt around, now I am having pains again. But that is where most of my pain is. The upper part of my left leg is still kind of numb also, do you have that problem?

Dawn, No I do not have that problem. My legs never went numb. Did you have an epdural? I saw that some other woman did and she had problems also. I went completely under I did not have one, I wish I could help. So, do you think that the burning sensation is nerves? I certainly hope it goes away soon. I feel really good except that. I even went into work on Sat and did payroll. I go back to the doc on Wed. I hope he is not going to be pushing around my incision already, it has only been 13 days post op. I am very nervous about this appt. Do you think it is going to hurt? Should I have someone else drive me? My doc is about an hour away from where I live. Good grief, I sound like I am 2. Sorry.

Bladder and Yeast Infection

I had my 4 week yesterday, the Dr. didn't do an exam but he did look around at the healing on the inside. It did cause some pain for me the rest of the day and i did bleed some last night. Did your Dr. release you to go back to work? Mine will only let me go back part time starting on the 29th until further notice than I go back to see him again in 4 weeks. Are you on a low dosage of HRT since you had endo? What burning are you having? Are you driving? I drove myself yesterday, we live about 45 minutes away and honestly it wore me out, of course I ran a few other errands while I was there.

I have to finish the perscription for Norethindrone that I had prior to surgery. They had me on Lupron first and that did not work. Had we had known about my left ovary being stuck I would have had this surgery sooner. I am hoping to be released on Wednesday to go back part time maybe 25-30 hours a week. I don't believe there will be a problem. He and I spole about this before surgery and he said he might at 2 weeks as long as I behave. I only want to go back like Mon, Wed, Fri. I really hope he does. They said on the 8th that I could drive starting tomorrow. I have made some short trips and I seem to tolerate them without incident. I have a burning like sensation aboout 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch above my incision. I am going to ask if it is nerves growing back together. I know they are supposed to feel different I am just not sure if it is that or not. My insides feel fine it is the outside that is bothering me. Oh well, I am no doc so I will talk to him at my appt. I hope you are doing better.

I hope everything goes well today at the Dr., let me know what he says about the pain above your insicion. I thought I was doing great but this week I have been having alot of pain, mine is also above my insicion on the left side. I have been an emotional mess for the last two days. I feel like I can't deal with anything. What did your Dr. say about taking hormones with the endo? He told me we would talk more about it in 4 weeks. I can't sleep at night and one week I am fine than the next I am crying all of the time. The bladder infection med he has me on makes me want to sleep all of the time. Good Luck and thanks for listening and the support.

Bladder and Yeast Infection

Dawn,
My doc appt went VERY well!!!! I am so happy. He told me that the burning sensation was ny nerve endings growing back together. It is much better today. He also said that If I get a sharp pain on the left side ( thats the ovary they took out) that it is just the stitches pulling and to stop doing what I am doing. Try to take it easy. Did they take both your ovarys? If so to might want to try something over the counter. If they did not it could be an emotional symptom of the meds you are on. I know I ahd a very emotional time on Fri, Sat and Sun aafter my surgery. They said it would pas and it has. I feel sooooooo much better. I wish you were doing well. Let me know how you are doing.

That is great about the Dr appointment going so well. Plus I now know what the pain is above my insicion. yes I did have both ovaries removed but it seems the pain is mainly on the left side. Today is the first day I have felt I can get thru without a breakdown since Sun. Everytime I feel myself starting to get upset I fight it. What did they say about going back to work? I only have one more week to go and I will be working part time. Kind of scared about that. I got out of here for a little while today and I am now exhausted. Did your Dr. release you to drive than?
