4 weeks post op - is this normal?
I have my TAH 4 weeks ago today, and was wondering about spotting. I had no spotting or bleeding after my op for about 10 days then I started with a pinky red colour, which turned to browny pink now it is browny yellow, is this the normal course of events.
If anyone can tell me I would be grateful.
Also I am having difficulty sleeping a night, when I do I have very vivid dreams and wake up very alarmed and shouting, I also have chocolate craving, someone on another post said this is due magnesium deficiency, so I started taking magnesium yesterday, please if anyone has any ideas or suggestions of help, as I am so tired and get very light-headed during the day when I walk around.
The doctors in the UK are not as approachable as yours in the US it would seem they tell you a lot more that ours do here.
Hoping for any information.
Keep happy

4 weeks post op - is this normal?
Hi Linnij:
My TAH was on 2/14/04 so we are pretty close. Around a week and a half after my surgery I started having a brownish color discharge and for about 2 days now it looks like it might be gone. My doctor was on vacation so I also posted it and I was told that their doctors said that the stitches start dissolving between your 2nd and 4th week post op. Sometimes it was a brownish pink color and sometimes it looked kind of browish yellow. I called the Nurses and they said it sounds like normal healing going on and not to get concerned unless it starts having a fowl odor or you start bleeding alot bright red blood then you should call. I don't know if it was the same thing you are having but it sounds like it might be. I hope this helps, If you are concerned best thing to do is report it. As for the sleeping I have been fortunate and I have not had that problem.
Take Care,
God Bless,
D'anne

4 weeks post op - is this normal?
I had TVH 2-19. Other than catching a cold about 10 days ago, which caused me to cough and sneeze, which caused me to bleed, which caused me to run to the doctors to make sure I wasn't coming apart, I feel great.
I got the go-ahead to drive one week after, and even made it to Bike Week on the back of the Harley--no long drives though.
I have been taking it easy, but the best advise I could give is:
DON'T CATCH A COLD!!!

4 weeks post op - is this normal?
Hi Linnij
I had my Lavh-Bso-A&p repairs on the 13th feb.
I had the spotting from day 1. Then it turned to the brownish colour. It was from the stitches disolving. So it is quite common. If it turns bright red or is clotting or heavily bleeding then I would get in contact with the DR. It is only these last couple of days that it is starting to go a yellow colour and dissapearing.
I haven't had any vivid dreams though. My husband fidgets so much in bed at night that he keeps me awake and I don't really have time to dream!
And as for the choccy.... I have been a choc a holic for years now, but I decided to give it up for lent (how silly was that!)and also have started a diet. But if you need some to boost that sugar level up, than a square or too won't harm you, if you can stick to a square or two!
Some times I get a bit light headed too, so I know that I need to rest. I think that I am over doing it a bit, as I have to be back to doing the normal things in my house now. Family have given up on the little help they gave me before.
Take care of yourself and happy healing.
