Nov 1st ladies in waiting

I was so amazed at how many people are having their surgery the same date I am, on Nov 1st. The calendar shows 10 ladies. Maybe there are more not listed. I just wanted to say hi to my sisters in waiting and to wish everyone best of luck. And the same to all of the other ladies in waiting on these boards. I was so glad to find this site. Now when I go crazy or obsess,I can post it and I find I am not alone in my feelings.

I'm one of your sisters of November 1st. Having an LAVH. Hopefully won't get complicated.
How are you feeling?
I seem to be less emotional than I was last week. Meeting with my gyn on Friday for the pre-op helped. She reassured me that if I want to cancel ro postpone, no problem, no pressure.
Also, she told me that the lead surgeon, Dr. Oh, won't do a hyst on a woman who is doubting.
But I'm not doubting so much anymore. Today was a relatively pain-free day; most of my misery comes after dinner, full bladder and bowels get sore from the big uterus. I guess if I didn't eat, I might be able to deal with this. LOL. Oh, and I can't do yoga either because that aggravates it. No sex either. No running. No lifting.
Hmmm. Well, I can't say that the recovery after surgery will be much different than now, with the exception of no yoga for 8 weeks or so.

I am also one of the Nov 1 LIW I am getting a little anxious to get it over with. I am on a fruit and liquid diet starting tomorrow DR.'s orders part of my bowel prep. Just really looking forward to it. I am going to be starving by wednesday. Anyway best of luck to all of you and my prayers will be with all of us.

Dear Nov. 1 Sisters and ALL Sisters,
I'm nervous too, although I am now scheduled for Nov. 3 - originally scheduled for Oct.31! I have pre-op on Wednesday and the Bowel Prep on Thursday. I wish all of you the best of health and a speedy recovery. I will pray for all of you and send healing energy to you and find you on the other side Nov. 3!

ok, I haven't had the pre-op yet, and maybe that is why I have consumed the message board with questions, but one more wouldn't hurt, would it?

bowel prep??
is this something everyone will have prior, or just with bladder repair? I guess that is one more point to add to the already obnoxious list I have going for the Doctor!

Just still wondering about this whole bowel prep thing... is this just something I will find out @ pre-op>? Man, I am sure you are all thinking that I am just really dumb when it comes to this kind of stuff, but the truth is, its really hard for me to be assertive, even when I know I should be...

Marni, I'm not an expert but I have had two laproscopies and now the LAVH and all three require a bowel prep the night or day before. I think most of the ladies on this sight will agree, it's not something you can avoid before a hyster. And after surgery going to the bathroom is the last thing you want to think about.
p.s. it's not as bad as it sounds!! and YES they will give you all the fun details at your pre op appt.

Well after two postponements it looks like I'll be going to the castle Wednesday. I had to have a cardiac catherization Thursday but all was OK so I was cleared for surgery. My nails are done (clear polish of course) toes look good, thank you notes purchased and ATM machine was visited so I guess I'm ready. My bowel prep starts at 7am tommorow with Dulcalax tablets three times during the day followed by Citrate Mag at 5pm and 8pm. All that's left is to color my hair (I'll be in the bathroom anyway!)
