discharge with odor

Hi,
I have a question about the problem I'm having.I had my hysterectomy on the 3rd of this month,,about 2 weeks ago.Everything is going fine ,,,,after I got my bowels to work.......lol.Anyway my concern is the discharge I'm having. It's kind of a carmel to light brown color with a terrible odor and I'm not sure if this is normal or not,,if anyone out there has been through this and can give me an answer I would be very greatful!!! I plan on calling my Dr. tomorrow,,,but found this website and thought I would give it a shot.
Thank you,
Wendileao3

discharge with odor

Hi Wendi!
A couple of weeks post-op I started having a discharge that smelled awful. Mine was a sort of yellowish-gray. (Yours sounds like you might have some old blood in it, maybe?)

Mine turned out to be a bacterial infection. We tried an intravaginal gel first, then had to go to an oral antibiotic, but it cleared up.

Not uncommon post-surgery.

Definitely call your doctor. And take your temperature -- they'll ask if you're running a fever.

Best wishes,
=e

discharge with odor

Discharge can be normal....but discharge with a bad odor is usually an infection of some sort. Definitely see the doc on this one.
