2 week check up question

I wanted to know what your doctors did at your two week check up. Was there an internal exam?

I went today for my two week check up, but my doctor was called away on an emergency. Since there were no other doctors available, I saw a certified nurse mid wife and all she did was take the tape off my incision to make sure there was no infection. She told me that when I come back to see the doctor in four weeks, she would do an internal exam then.

My question is, should I really not have an internal exam after a hysterectomy until six weeks after surgery? Is this normal or should I put in a call to the doctor?

Thanks all.

2 week check up question

Hi
I had my check up today too, and all i got was the tape removed and a check. I go back on 4/5 for an internal (surgery was 3/3 for TAH). I have a spot of about an inch that is still scabbing and draining and he told me not to touch it and let it go. I'm alittle worried about that, afraid of it getting infected or splitting open. Am I being paranoid or is the Dr. being insensitive?
Don't worry, I would think that it would be longer than the 2 week checkup, I know that I'm not ready for the internal, but can't speak for anyone else.
Good luck and get well soon.

2 week check up question

I had my first post op doctors appointment 2-1/2 weeks after surgery. The surgeon looked obviously at the incision but also did a very comprehensive internal exam. Once I think with a light and once with his hands. It wasnt really painful but I was so nervous about him going in there so soon after surgery that he said based on my breathing, he thought I was going to pass out. I didnt think I was going to pass out, but it was pretty stressful.

2 week check up question

All my Dr. did at my 2 week exam was check the incision. She waited until the six week appt. to do the interior exam. I suppose it depends on the Dr. and how well he/she perceives you to be healing.

If you have concerns about the interior exam at four weeks, speak up to your Dr. It's still your body, even though they've been "rennovating" it!

2 week check up question

At 2 weeks I had the other half of my staples taken out by the nurse. Doctor popped in real quick to see that the incision was healing fine and there were no signs of infection. He also asked in general how I was feeling, then we chatted about sports for a bit.

Really not much at that point. 6 weeks was when he did an internal looksie and to make sure I felt OK to go back to work.

rest up and continued good healing to you,

the same thing with me

My first appointment was just 9 days after my surgery, the doctors assistant simply took out my staples (24 of them, form pubic bone to my belly button, vertically!), put tape on the incision, said it looked great and make an appointment in four more weeks. I thought they would look inside too, but they werent interested. Next time I suppose. Martha

2 week check up question

I questioned his nurse about lack of look-see and she said "we know you are still healing" and that he would do the internal look at 6 weeks.

I think it depends on the type of surgery you have too - mine was LAVH - so he didn't want to disturb the interior incisions.

2 week check up question

I just had my 2 week today. On my way there it occurred to me he might do an internal. I got very nervous about it because I had an LAVH too and I assume it must still be sore at the stop of the vagina.

Fortunately, he just checked all my lap spots (I have 4) and said we'd do an internal in 4 more weeks. Whew! I was relieved!

2 week check up question

Yesterday was my 7wks. check-up and my first internal exam. The other times he checked my incision and talked to me.

2 week check up question

Hi

I had a LAVH on 3/9 and went for a one week post op on 3/15. The doc checked my lap incisions (4 tiny incisions) and did an internal exam. I was extremely nervous about that but things went well and he said my incision was healing very well (inside). No pain or bleeding after the exam so I was relieved. I guess each doctor is different.
