Breast Tenderness

My surgery was in the middle of January 04. I am still having breast tenderness. Almost like the soreness you get before your period starts. Is anyone else having this problem and what can I do about it.
I see my doctor again tomorrow. Every two weeks since my surgery. I am hoping to hear that I am healed inside and ready to go. (if ya know what I mean)
I keep forgeting to ask him about the breast sorness.

Sore Boobs

Hello there,
My surgery was Dec 1. The worse side effect for me has been the sore boobs. I seem to get about a 9 day break or so around about what would have been my period, but apart from that's it's horrible. I wear a bra all the time (bed too) and sometimes it really hurts removing it. They're heavy and congested.
I asked my gynae about it at my 6 weekly check He said it would prob. settle down after surgery. Well, it hasn't yet...
SO I asked on this site and got a good website to look at: http://www.project-aware.org/Managin...ebreasts.shtml

As a result of that bought a tincture from the health store which includes vitex and black cohosh. I'm taking that and hope things will improve (it will take a few weeks I'm sure)
ALSO http://www.helenpensanti.com/ I read a hyster report recommending her creams. I sent off for the breast cream (not at all easy since she's US and I'm in Canada, but where there's a will etc) and started using earlier this week. It's very greasy, that's all I can say at this stage!
Good luck. Let me know if you find any miracle cure. It's such a pain, but not in the neck!!
All the best.

Thought I was the only one

Saw your post and couldn't resist. I thought it was just me. I'm 11 days post op and have had breast pain for almost a week. See the Dr. on Monday so will ask him.

Breast Tenderness

When I was discussing what goes and what stays, I told my dr. that I no longer want the pain I get in my breasts. She then said if that was the case, then the overies had to go. I had cysts on my overies anyway as well as some strange thickening of one of my tubes.
I am happy to report that when I undress for bed and after taking off my bra ..... no pain!

Breast Tenderness

My surgery was about a month before yours. The first two times I went through the time I used to have my period, I had pain, then last month it seems to have toned down. I always had some tenderness, but right after the surgery it was as bad or worse as it had ever been. This month I watched salt intake, too.

Anyway, as I say, it seems to be leveling off.

Breast Tenderness

Are you taking HRT? Some HRT medications have a side effect of breast soreness. I have a LAVH the end of January and Dr just switched me to a different HRT medication yesterday - I was having dizzy spells, headaches, not sleeping, soaking my nightgown during the night from hot flashes, I guess, etc.

Do you think the breast soreness could have anything to do with your HRT medication?

I also had breast tenderness when I was on the pill before I had my hyster. I asked my doctor and he said it was possibly estrogen related. Since my surgery, my tenderness has decreased. I guess he was right.

Breast Tenderness

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I've had very sore, heavy-feeling breasts non-stop for six months--about as long as the heavy bleeding has been going on.

I wonder if it will get better or worse after surgery? That part of me has been pretty uncomfortable and I hope it gets better!

Breast Tenderness

Asked my doctor about this at my 2 week check. He said watch caffeine intake. Says this may be a problem for about 3 months, at the usual time for my cycle. Just until my body heals. Hope that's as long as it goes on.

Breast Tenderness

I had breast tenderness for about 3 days, about 26 days after my surgery. Since I kept my ovaries my dr. said it was from ovulation like I was having a period. I can deal with that since I don't have to bleed all over the place. I did hear though that over time that gets better.
