Ultrasound results......

Well ladies, I'm more frsutrated than ever and just ready to give up! My ultrasound showed nothing. NOTHING!!! I'm sure that sounds like good news, but it just makes me so frustrated because I am having pain......it is there, it is real......something has to be causing it. I'm waiting to hear back from my gyn about what the next step is(I have only talked to a nurse), but honestly, I might not do anything more......except pop vicodin 2 days out of each month!

I just wanted something to show up on the ultrasound so that I would have something to show for my pain! Now I feel like I'm crazy and that I'm just imagining it all......but I know I'm not!

Thanks for all the support. I'll let you know what my gyn says when/if he calls me

pasdechat,

I know your fustrations of having nothing show up on a test... I have been having pian for about 10 days a month. My family doctor has done a CT, Ultra Sound & a MRI and nothing.... I wanted to cry when she told me that yesterday. But she realizes that my pain is real. She feels that it is more then likely adheasions as well as endo so she is refering me for a lap with possible removel of my ovaries.

I too just wish they would of saw something... I know my pain is real and I think it just helps so much when you have these sort of test done, because they are not cheap, that they say okay this is what we found. Not well we have good news we did not see anything. Maybe good for them, not good for you because your the one living in pain. Please don't give up... Be sure to ask your doctor about the next step...

Hi Pasdechat

Try not to be too discouraged. They can't see everything with an u/s. There could still be something there causing your pain that just doesn't show up on the u/s. Keep at it, don't give up. No one should have to take strong pain killers on a regular basis. There is something there, you just haven't figured out what yet.

I do know the feeling of the tests showing NOTHING! Yeah, we should be glad, but than again we still don't have an explanation for the pain and other problems.

Is your pain just mainly 2 days out of the month? Maybe you could arrange it with the doc to be seen when the pain hits? If it's 2 days and you can track it, it's possible you could be experiencing PMS symptoms. When you retain the ovaries, if they continue to work you can still have PMS type problems.

Have you considered seeing a hormone specialist? It's just an

I'm sending s I think I'm the opposite of you, I only have 2 days a month, if I'm lucky, where I don't hurt.

Dear ((Pasdechat))

How frustrating for you... I am sorry that (so far) nothing obvious has shown up.

Have you considered pelvic congestion in the ovarian veins as a cause? I had that on my right side (thought to be a side affect of the extra prostaglandins produced by the endo) and it caused me terrible pain in my right ovary.... even though my ovary looked totally normal. It was diagnosed with a pelvic pain mapping and then a pelvic venogram that showed blood pooling in a few parts of the vein. The pain mapping isn't essential to the diagnosis. While it ended up being painful 100% of the time, it did start out as cyclical and even when it was 100% I had 1-2 weeks during the month (right before and at the start of my period) when it would feel like my ovary was going to explode.... I later read that the blood flow to the ovary increases at certain times of the month due to hormones.

I have read that Pelvic congestion can be from a genetic tendency towards varicose veins, or a side affect of endometriosis, or a side affect of pregnancy (I would think twins would be a bigger risk than singletons).

DId any of your surgical reports mention enlarged veins or vascularity?

I had 2 venograms... the second was done by an interventional radiologist and was along the lines of a heart catherization (catheter in the femoral vein... guided up to the kidneys and down to where the ovarian veins are located.)

best wishes in finding an answer.

Oh ((((Pasdechat)))) I'm so sorry at all the frustration and pain you've been dealing with

I'm also one of those who know just how frustrating it is to have those tests show nothing Like you, I have pain, and I know that it's real but, so far, all the tests have shown nothing. I've been lucky because my doctors have confirmed that it's real (they can actually see the inflammation in my joints) so I know that I'm not imagining it. Still... I just wish I had something firm to explain the way I've been feeling.

((((Sweetie)))) Hopefully your doctor will have a plan of action in mind for you and will know what the next step is.... so you don't have to figure it out by yourself.
