2 Weels Post Op--What are you doing?
I know everyone progresses at a different level, but I feel like I'm not doing enough. I don't have much energy. Its hard to sit for long periods of time or I get sore inside and out. I have gone out a few times for short periods of time. Today I drove to Target for a few things, came home and took a nap. I am taking the dog for very short walks, like up maybe 10 minutes at a slow pace.
Does this sound about right? What are you guys doing?

2 Weels Post Op--What are you doing?
I have had tah 3wks ago and I still can't do very much, but we're really not suppose too. Everytime I go grocery shopping, I get pretty exhausted. The next day is usually shot because I'm so fatigued from shopping the day before, that I sleep for most of next day. This is normal I'm sure, because in all reality I am recovering from "Major" surgery. At least now I'm fatigued from surgery and not bleeding all the time. But I really have paid attention to the ladies on this site who have been through this before. So don't over do it. It will pay off in the end.

2 Weels Post Op--What are you doing?
I had my surgery on 3/2. So...it's almost 3 weeks post op. Still not doing much due to hubby not allowing it but......feel wonderful. Totally normal. No fatigue, not tired. Went out to lunch today and a little shopping/walking at an outdoor mall. Came home, hubby is taking a nap. I tried. Couldn't sleep. Last week on Saturday went to lunch and shopping. Sunday out to dinner. Monday to daughter's girl scout investiture and then doctor appt. Figured I pay for it on Tues. Felt great. still no fatigue or tiredness. I guess i'm recovering very well. I fold and put laundry away, clear table and put dishes in dishwasher. I'm not lifting anything heavier than a dinner plate though. I was cleared to drive on post op day #9 along with regular activity except for sex and lifting. Sitting/standing - no problems. I have a TVH so that might make a huge difference since very little was disturbed so I haven't had any pain meds since post op day #4. BTW: I'm a type A personality and i've always healed very quickly from everything. Just my body I guess. When I had wisdom teeth pulled (all 4 impacted) I went to work the next day and was eating pizza 3 days later - never took a pain pill. My lap in December - 5 days later I was walking around an amusement park. I get over the flu in 2 days, never had chicken pox (yes, I was exposed). Again, I just think it's my body - it just tends to heal very quickly.

2 Weels Post Op--What are you doing?
I'm only 5 days post op and I'm having the same "trouble" -I feel great!! I've been walking around the house constantly, greeting guests at the door..one friend said "I can see you didn't have surgery!" I can tell next week ought to be great. Housekeeper, DH , teen kids, and meal providing friends are keeping me from doing any "work" so I figured whatever I can handle is ok. Be thankful that we're some of the lucky ones that got to go vag..I'm sure that makes all the difference. Enjoy your time "off"

2 Weels Post Op--What are you doing?
I had TAH on the 12th of March so I'm just 8 days post op and I've been feeling really great too. Everyone tells me I've been getting around wonderfully! I don't feel nearly as bad as I thought I would, that's for sure!

2 Weels Post Op--What are you doing?
Oh yeah, we've had friends from church who signed up for 2 weeks worth of meals starting on March 8th (my surgery was on the 2nd and I came home on the 5th). I felt so good and looked so good by post op day #7 that I had to "act like I had surgery" - stayed in pj's, no makeup, nothing done with hair just so me and my hubby didn't feel so guilty accepting that second week of meals! Yes, we are the fortunate ones. I was very positive going into this surgery and was really ready. PLUS, I really did stay down....didn't do ANYTHING but sleep and eat until post op day #11 so I didn't push my body to do anything early on. Also, interestingly, one of my surgeons put me on 1000mg of vitamin C 2 weeks before surgery with orders to continue for a month afterward. Apparently the vitamin C speeds healing and recovery time. I remember being told that after my 2 baby deliveries - which I also recovered quickly from. Thought that was interesting. Come to think of it....my oral surgeon said the same thing when my wisdom teeth were pulled too.

Hi SacredFem,
I am 5 weeks and I just went to the grocery store for the first time last night. It took us 1 hr to get the few items we needed. I still have not driven my car as sitting in that position is not comfy yet. Take your time ....

Well, it sounds like the TVH's heal a lot faster than the TAH. Good for you all.
I am 15 days post op today. I am trying hard to follow the DR.'s orders and not lift anything heavier then a dinner plate. Today, I feel pretty good. But, that is because I did nothing but rest all day. DH and I went grocery shopping yesterday and a couple of other errands and today I was bushed. My incision has been draining/bleeding for 9 days straight. I am using more maxi pads now then I ever used on my period...lol. I finally have stopped useing the darvocet, unless it gets real bad. But, the pain in the gut is always there.
But, I must say, things have begun to look up for me finally.
Glad to hear others are doing well. I haven't walked the dog yet, no way, the way he pulls. I put away groceries, nothing to heavy. I do the dishes, make bed, sometimes. DH gets heavy things for me and everything that I have to reach for. He is just an angel.

2 Weels Post Op--What are you doing?
My surgery was March 4th. I am not doing much at all, but fortunately I don't have to. My Mom is staying with me for a month. I haven't had to do a thing and I don't plan to as long as she's here. From what I've read, we all need to take it as easy as we possibly can. If you have helpful family members, then let them do for you. Life will get busy enough for us all sooner than we expect! I agree with "Stumped" and her observation that the TAH's seem to take a bit longer to heal! I feel like I could do lots more if it weren't for my incision area.

2 Weels Post Op--What are you doing?
hi all:
I had my surgary on march 5th as well and I am now 15 days post op. I fatigue easy as well. What set me back this week was going to post op appt took bus had to go to lab pharmacy etc took bus back home. Then the next day I had to go to dermatologist as I had developed a nasty rash in hosp from either medicine or external allergy to something. The derm thought it was dermatitis from something external I was allergic to. Doing laundry next day instead of resting was not smart. Spent the next three days sleeping, reading and doing nothing more then microwaving food. Tonight im on puter as I got it back today after best freind fixed it. Going to go lie down as incision is hurting...have numbness around incision. Glad I read articles you have posted on reasons why not to over do it...the scar tissue and adhesions scared me enough. I guess this is going to take time to heal and that is fine. I go for small walks daily as the weather has been awesome. Hope your recovery continues to go well. Still on pain medication...I have to go easy on it as Im almost out. Those of you have family and freinds to help are fortunate. I am by myself in this...best freind lives too far away has her own family. Glad I cleaned house shopped extensively etc. I am not cleared to vacume for three weeks. Yikes my poor floor lol
