Recovery is it like recovery of c-section??

Hi

A hyster is "more" than a c-section. I had 2 c-sections a number of years ago and my hyster about 6 months ago. In some ways it is similar....you'll be an "expert" in how to get yourself up and out of bed and how to move around putting as little strain on your tummy as possible. You'll be expecting the aches from your back picking up the slack while your tummy muscles are on vacation. You'll be familiar with all the challenges of bowel movements after surgery.

A hyster is "deeper." Instead of having an organ that has been manipulated and put back, they've actually removed it. I found it a little achier than a c-section. Please don't misunderstand...it wasn't unbearable for me...I kept up with my pain meds for maybe a week and a half before going to lighter duty pain meds. Within 24 hours of my surgery I could tell the difference in how I felt. I was so used to my uterus hurting 24/7 and, while I had the aches of surgery, I didn't have that continual pain from before.

I'm not sure this explains it in an understandable way, but hopefully it will help some

Thank you....that is what I thought I thought the pain would be a little deeper...the only thing that I think will be better is that I won't be waking at night w/ an infant....I have 3 children 14,13 and 10 so they are old enough now honestly this has happened so fast but I will be glad when it is over I cannot wait to stop bleeding and being so tired.

I've been wondering if it was going to be about the same as my c-section also. I had a c-section 12 years ago, so I keep teasing that I'm not as young as I was then. I was in Walmart a week after having that c-section! Anyway, anything would be better than having no energy and hurting all the time. I'm trying to keep a positve attitude that I will be okay and up and at it really soon.
