I must be one of the lucky ones....

I have read so much on this board (which I am truly grateful for) and other places that it usually takes years to get a Dr. that will listen and take action for all our problems. So many have said that they have been told it was all in their head and so on.

In January I made an appt. with a gyn. ( I hadn't had a check up since 1996 and I know that was...just plain stupid on my part) and from reading so many things I realized that all the things I have been experienceing over the last several years were not "normal". Before my appt. I sat down and made a list of things that I was having problems with, and I will say the list wasn't short.

So when I went to my appt. I gave the nurse my list and she took all the info and when the Nurse Practioner came in she was already informed of my problems.

From that appt. I was scheduled for a mammo the following week, and went from the mammo straight to an ultrasound and two days later I had an appt. with a surgeon for a breast biopsy.

As soon as that was done and I was healed from that, I am now going in next Tuesday for my TAH/BSO. I know that I have suffered for years from this, but to have this done so fast I feel so grateful that I have a gyn. that steps up to the plate for his patients.

Sorry so long, I just took a pain pill and I tend to talk (type) a lot.

I hope everyone has a good night!

Take care!

I must be one of the lucky ones....

I fired my first ob/gyn because he was ignoring the fact of what was going on. I was referred to my present ob/gyn and told him exactly what was going on and what had been tried my my previous doctor...with no results. I asked him if he had other treatments that might take care of my probs. but, I did not want to start from square one again. He took the ball and put it into play. I actually went to see him because I had not had a period for 6 months and then started and bled for 29 days straight...he did a D&C and a thermal ablation, and lap. surgery to remove a 3cm cyst off my L ovary. 3 years later we tried the D&C again, problems started again...that worked for 2 months...then began to bleed again...for 4 straight months...he suggested a TVH but encouraged me to get a second opinion....I told him I needed no second opinion...he had done all he could to fix the problem and it was obvious the problem maker needed to be evicted. Insurance companies want proof that doctors are not just giving a H to everyone ... so we made sure we documented everything... insurance company was actually coming out behind on the deal...they spent more money on the other procedures than they needed to....gotta love those insurance companies

Isn't it amazing that the insurance companies will pay for so many different treatments but a lot times not a hyst. It seems to me that if they would pay for the ones that really need it that they would save a ton of money and in turn our premimium's(sp) would go down. (It must be men in charge lol).

Thanks for listening!
