What's your fibroid size?

Having a 20 cm fibroid and 3 other sizable aliens in my uterus, I wondered if this was as rare and freaky as the GP made me feel it was. The gynecologist didn't seem as concerned (meaning HE didn't freak out like the general practioner doctor did on me!)
I've been reading the posts...seen some large ones but wondered if It was that rare or should I just sit back, enjoy the lupron ride " and relax.
I'm very worried that this thing will get so big that they won't be able to remove it/them without making a mess inside.

What's your fibroid size?

The big ones seem to be getting more common. I had one that weighed 8 lbs and several others. It's now being used by my DR (who's a clinical prof at a teaching hospital) in his classes as a case study. My surgery was taped for his students as well, with my blessing.

The first time he used my case in his class, he asked me to come and introduced me to the students, which was pretty cool. They got to ask me all kinds of clinical questions about my symptoms and the recovery from the surgery. It was pretty weird to see my fibroids in a jar of formaldehyde, but if it helps find a cure for them or makes doctors understand them better, then it's the least I could do.

What's your fibroid size?

I was going to ask the surgeon to take a picture of the sucker

8 lbs of fibroid is a lot to carry around.
I'm anxious to see and find out how much mass will come out of my belley.

What's your fibroid size?

LOL! I'd like to have a picture to put on my dartboard!

I lost 26 lbs the day of my surgery. I call it the HystoDiet! Usually after surgery, you have wear clothes a couple of sizes too big for a while. My DH had to go and buy me a pair of sweats two sizes smaller to go home in. I couldn't keep any of my old ones up!

It was a pretty dramatic difference.

What's your fibroid size?

Arebella, you give me hope.

I know I've tried every other diet known to the human race. I just recently lost 63 lbs and am still anxious that the inactivity will help me regain. (One of many small anxieties. You should see my lopsided stomach from the fibroids...no I guess you shouldn't.)I don't know what size my fibroids are but .. . 8lbs, it makes one pause to think.

LOL! Evicting those nasty fibroids helped me lose 26 lbs of mess, pain and trouble. I lost another 20 and am down to my college weight for the first time in 20 years! And the best part??? I felt so much better and had so much more energy after the first six weeks that I no longer wanted to just veg out on the couch from exhaustion. Before my hyst, I could barely walk, let alone run. Now I alternate running and walking 5 or 6 days a week. That's what I mean about getting my life back. I feel twenty years younger and my DH (who's an ex-jock) has a hard time keeping up with me now. Life is GOOD without a uterus!

8lbs?

20cm?

When my mom and sis both told me that theirs were walnut sized I thought, ok, cool, then I'm probably in the same boat. When the Ultrasound came back with the biggy at 6cm I was shocked.

I can't wait for the path report to get the scoop on how big and how much they all weighed in at. Absolutely fascinating. Gross, but fascinating.

Glad to have the suckers outta there.

What's your fibroid size?

Yep, the monster was 8 lbs. My Dr said taking it out reminded him of that scene in "Alien" where the monster bursts through the woman's stomach. I'll take a TAH with a 10 in vertical scar over an 8 lb fibroid any day!

What's your fibroid size?

Alien babies or fruit salad (a grapefruit and oranges)...thats what i've been telling my friends when they ask me how big my fibroids are. The largest one I have is about 13x11 cm and at least 2 slightly smaller ones. My gyn looked at me and asked "and you don't feel any pain at all?" since I never had any symptoms that many others have other than a big belly (but then I've always been chubby). He also commented "you are going to loose weight after this surgery" and "I've seen many large fibroids and yours is one of the largest I've seen". I can't wait to get a smaller tummy!

What's your fibroid size?

I have a pineapple and an orange. Can't keep track of the official cm...I can visualize the fruit salad much better. The past month , the uterus has been growing one pregnancy week per calendar week, so, now 15 1/2 weeks.
WOW...maybe there are fibroids in my buttocks as well. I will be so happy post-op!

thanks for the hope...always lifts my spirits when I come here!
love,
akita
