Do you lose weight after?

Wondering if you lose weight post when you don't have the estrogen pumping so much? I have been at a steady weight and can't seem to get it to budge? Will this help?

Do you lose weight after?

Karin, I told my doc I was mad at him because I weighed before I went home and I didn't lose a pound! I expected all those body parts to weight SOMETHING. LOL I'm 6 days post op and eating isn't high on my priority list since coming home from the hospital so I'm hoping after the swelling goes down and I can do more walking I'll lose a few pounds. I think it just all depends on the individual and how you handle things. Good luck to you!

Do you lose weight after?

Karin beth,
My TVH/BSO was 2 weeks ago..I've lost about 7 pounds since. My appetite was not affected since it wasn't ab surgery so I've been eating well. All my old cravings are gone. I'm drinking tons of water and eating the right foods for a change. I'm not on HRT. I can't wait to get out and really exercise (did I say that?) and work off a few more pounds. Good luck!

Do you lose weight after?

Hi Karin!

Don't count on this surgery to jump start your weight loss. I am speaking from experience. I hoped and expected to lose a lot of weight as a result of having surgery, and keep it off, but it didn't happen. I did lose about 10 pounds in the couple of weeks right after surgery, but that was because #1 I wasn't passing any gas so the DR kept me on a liquid diet for a longer period of time after surgery, and #2 when I did resume a regular diet I just didn't have the appetite to eat much. When the appetite came back so did 5 of those lost pounds.

But, I have a lot more energy now than I did before surgery, so I'm moving more, and I feel like doing things again. Last spring DH & I bought new bikes and until winter we were taking long rides several times a week. I had lost more weight, but with winter and no more bike riding I've regained most of it.

Also the immediate post op period is not the time to try to diet, the body needs lots of energy to heal, so be sure to eat plenty of nutritious foods.

Best wishes!

Do you lose weight after?

Hi Karin,
Personally, lost about 10 or more pounds. I am 2 wks. post op
But I had 2 surgeries (another one 4 days after my hysterectomy) and didn't eat much for that week i was in the hospital. My uterus was the size of a football... and I don't know exactly how much it weighed... But after all the gas/swelling went down, I have lost about 10 lbs.
The best thing is to take very good care of yourself afterwards. You're body will adjust.
