I'm in the pre-op window where you can't have anything other than tylenol for pain and I'm SO hurting! I have Tylenol but I remember before that last surgery the Dr said that it doesn't really work for these ovary problems, and ibuprohen was the best thing.
Well, I guess if the tylenol will just help the shooting back pains, it might help for something! Thanks for letting me WHINE! LOL If you know of a susbstitute for Ibuprophen that doesn't thin blood, let me in on it will ya?

I go to surgery on Thursday and I was told by some veterans to bring mints or cough drops so as not to cough or it will hurt your tummy. They also suggested that bringing my own pillow to hug to my tummy might be nicer and softer than a hospital pillow.

OOPs my bad

Sorry my reply did not fit the question I am not used to this and directed it the wrong way. Have you tried Midol? I am not sure if it thins the blood or not but I have taken it for may things not just what it is prescribed for. Check with your doctor and see if you can take that because for an over the counter product its pretty good with pain.

Ask your doc if he can prescribe Vicodin or Darvocet. I was given Darvocet before my last surgery and it did help some. Vicodin is tylenol with hydrocodone and won't thin the blood either.

Sorry but DO NOT TAKE MIDOL. My doc told me that Midol has ibeprophen in it. It will thin the blood. Can't have anything with ibeprophen or asprin for 2wks pre-op. I am having the same problem with the pain. Ibeprophen is an anti-inflamitory which we take because our ovaries are infamed and painful. But, I asked and he wrote me a script for Vicoden which is a tylenol base. Hope it helps.

I called my family doctor told him i was schedule for my surgery and wasnt able to take motrin and he gave me some vicadon to help out before surgery and it helped, it also was nice because i could only take percocets for a week, started getting nauseated and my gyn wanted me off percocets, and i had the vicadon as a back up that was left over....

call your family doctor or even your gyn might prescribe some vicadon...

pain meds

Hi----

There are other perscription drugs out there too. Tylenol #3 is one. Call your doctor and ask. I was in alot of pain because of fibromyalgia before my surgery and couldnt take my regular meds. I took tylenol # 3. No sense being in pain. ----kangaa

I was allowed

I had a laproscope a couple months ago and was allowed tylenol with codeine until Midnight the night before surgery. You may want to call the Dr. and explain your situtation.
Good luck!
