If you have to have the Phenergan to keep from getting sick while in the hospital (I was on morphine so needed it a few times) and they ask you do you want the shot in your arm, leg or butt. Tell them your butt. I had one in my butt at first and then the second one, I didn't want to try to turn again so I got it in my arm. I am two weeks post now and my arm still hurts where they gave me the shot.
So remember, the shot is better on the ol'butt!
They gave me Phenergan shots in my IV for the nausea while I had my IV, which was just for about 24 hours. Then it was a shot in my hip.
Please, remember to ask for whatever meds you need...(nausea, pain, gas etc.)don't be shy....pain meds especially usually have to be requested, they don't just come every so many hours, you usually need to ask....
Right! I'm telling my dad to keep up with my pain meds until I'm awake enough to do it myself. I know how important it is not to delay or skip a dose at the beginning. I take something for chronic pain anyway. You can't let pain get started or it will be so difficult to stop that it will take twice or three times as much medicine to get relief. I'd rather take a little all along than to have to take a big blob all at once. You take less that way.
After I get home it'll be different, but right at first--I'm gonna be an A #1 patient. If they say 'walk' I'll say 'how far?' If they say 'peepee' I'll say 'out of the way!' If they say 'fart' I'll say 'didn't you smell that already?'
