feeling terribly bruised in the crotch area

I had a vaginal hysto two weeks ago. I am still SOOOO very sore "down there"!! Is this due to bruising? How much is actually cut and stitched-- anybody know? After urination, I can only "pat" the area dry because it is sore-- feels like one big bruise. The area where I had episiotomies (sp?) for childbirth many moons ago feels about the same now as it did then, so does that mean that area was cut and restitched?

I'm just so surprised at this-- the rest of me feels great, except for this area! Is this true for you other vaginal hysto patients?

bruised crotch

Take a look at pelvic floor.com you will see lapriscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy which is same as what you had except no lapriscopic cameras used to assist just a TVH with bso the clamps and crow-bars (sp) they use to hold ya open LOL this is probably the reason you feel like you got hit by a mack truck down there. Thank goodness i was asleep for this and i thought the shoe horn that is used in pap tests was bad YIKES this is way bigger. It will feel better soon , but if your worried talk to your doc.

Thanks so much for posting this web address! I had searche the net under "hysterectomy", trying to find a little movie or snapshot series of the procedure, because I really wish I knew "exactly" who it was done...... you can find stuff showing childbirth, but I didnt' find anything on hystos-- hubby said it's probably because they maul us so bad, they don't want us to know!! LOL!

Whenever I go there, I get a big white page that says that page can not be displayed. Maybe I have to be a member somewhere?

mindgames4one,
I am sorry to hear that you are still having probs with that area where your episiotomy was. I can promise you though that it does get better with time. I an 5 and half weeks post-op and walking normally now but I do still have one area on my episiotomy that isnt completely healed yet and still gets really sore after a while and hurts but is much better. At three weeks my stuff down there still felt the way it did the day I came home from the hospital. It just started to feel better almost 2 weeks ago. They do cut you then restitch that area thats why it hurts so bad. It will get better with time. PM me if you have any questions...........glory.

Thanks, glory!

Oh, so there WAS an episiotomy! I didn't know for sure, since the doctors didn't ever say anything. I wonder why not? They do when you are going to have a baby. Well, at least I understand the pain now. It prevents me from sitting comfortably anywhere, but primarily the car. And driving is out until it's better, unless I can totally rely on cruise control (I tried it last night for a quick, nearby errand. Forget it.)

I didn't realize how young you were-- I'm really sorry you had to go through junk like this so early. My best friend had a hysterectomy at 22... I can't imagine that. She said it was well worth it, though, because she had been miserable for years-- since she ever started her menses. She's my age now-- 48. So I guess it's always best to just focus on the positives.

I'm looking forward to less pain in the crotch, though, THAT's for sure!

Mindgames4one,
Do you have stitches on the outside? Can you see them? I could see mine when I got a mirror and looked? I had to look at them when I had to self-cath myself. I had no choice cause I had to have a mirror to see how to insert catheter......I was shocked the first time I saw it.......I was like oh my gosh......like to have fell over cause they made the opening smaller when they sewed the episiotomy back up. Your not sure that you have an episiotomy????? Check and see if you feel stitches or see them.........you can PM me with any questions you have if you want.....feel free anytime.......glory

Any idea's ladies to help with that soreness? I had a TVH three days ago and I feel like they all took turns with a baseball bat berween my legs after they put me out! LOL! I looked for stitches and I have none. Lots of cramping though. Up and walking . The back of my legs even hurt. I keep telling myself one day at a time. Mindgames4one I have all of your pains!
