Taste buds and tongue hurts

Thanks for all the taste bud stories. I feel much better, however my tongue also feels as though it was burnt, but it has not. anyone feel that way?

I look forward to tasting something other than cardboard.

kind of

Mine did too, but the roof of my mouth would get very tender after eating anything. It was like after you eat a lot of salty stuff.
I wondered why our mouths would be affected by any of this?

Taste buds and tongue hurts

I'm back on for the first time since surgery and I can't believe I see this post. My tongue has been sore since the day after surgery - last Wed. It even bled a little when I brushed it. It's better today, but I wonder what that's all about.

Funny to see I'm not the only one - probably not the only one to experience anything, I'm sure.

Taste buds and tongue hurts

After I came out of the OR-my dh said-"let me see your tongue"-it was bruised and purple!
I'm sure it was from the tube they put in-
But it did go away after a couple of days-anyone else with a purple tongue?
Finally I can taste again!!

Taste buds and tongue hurts

Check and make sure your tongue doesn't have white stuff on it. Mine hurt and had white splotches - turned out I had oral thrush from having been on antibiotics so long. It was treated with diflucan and nystatin.

Taste buds and tongue hurts

Hi Ladies,

I experienced the same thing as Jan. For about a week after my surgery, my tongue felt very raw and my taste buds had gone on vacation. Turns out it was thrush from receiving mega-doses of antibiotics for the surgery.

I didn't receive any treatment and it cleared up on it's own. Though in hindsight I wished I had called my Dr. rather than suffer through those symptoms for a whole week.

Best wishes and s
