Just got a surgery date!!!

HI I just wanted to e mail to say that I finally got a date for my surgery. It will be on 6/11/04.. I am wondering how others have dealt with such a long wait. I have cramping almost every day and take 800mg ibuprofin and midol toghether to deal with the pain. My concern is that taking these meds on a daily basis will somehow cause more problems with my stomach.. Right now, I am very glad to have a date but oh so disapointed to have to wait 10 whole weeks.. Any ideas on how to deal with the waiting would be greatly appreciated. I will be having a TAH and am happy to be getting it done but also feel so much fear. My emotions are just all over the place.. Can anyone else relate?? Nance

Just got a surgery date!!!

I can relate! I just posted earlier that I finally became LIW but I don't have a date yet. I need to heal from a surgery I had recently first. My doc told me to think about the dates and decide what I wanted. I am thinking early June also. True, I would prefer to have it done tomorrow if it were possible, I hate waiting! I plan on doing a lot of spirng cleaning in the meantime and becoming an absolute professor on this stuff.

Just got a surgery date!!!

I relate. I had towait for a gyn referral That was in November I got my referral in Febuary. Knowing that I was defianately going to have a hyst I feel like the wait has been forever! But now there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I too am in daily pain. I am back taking vicodin again! and it just takes the edge off.

Just got a surgery date!!!

Hi Nancy
My date is 3 days after yours. I know it is a long wait, but I actually had to schedule it then, as my support system (mom &dad) will be off galavanting in Europe for the whole month of May. Yes, my DH will still be home, but it would be just too much for him to take care of me and DS without my wonderful parents.

I plan to use this time to educate myself as much as possible. I'm going to read as much as I can, clean the whole house, start cleaning out closets, etc. It seems like a long wait right now, but just wait spring is in the air, and so time will fly between now and June.

Most of all, I'm going to take care of ME. When the pain gets to be too much, I will relax instead of trying to do everything myself. I am also writing in my journal as often as possible, just to keep track of thoughts and feelings as I go through this trying time in my life.

You're in my thoughts.

Just got a surgery date!!!

Hi Nance. I just got my date yesterday and, like you, I'll be waiting until June for my surgery. I'm scheduled for June 7th. I needed to schedule it after my kids are done with preschool for the year as it is a cooperative school and I am committed to volunteering several days a month in the classroom. So it will be a bit of a wait for me, too. We can keep each other company!

My emotions are all over the place. On the one hand, I'll be so glad to put all the pain and heavy bleeding behind me, but on the other hand I feel almost selfish that I'll be putting my family through the ordeal of a six week recovery. I had contemplated a hysterectomy two years ago, but opted instead for a lap/RSO. I know now I should have just gone ahead with the hyst. then. But my twins were only 2.5 then and it seemed unfair to them to put them through that at such a young age. At least now they're a little older and can understand why I won't be able to do much with them while I recuperate.

Take care and ask lots of questions here! The ladies here have been wonderful to me!
