Should I wait until August?

Ack, I can't believe what I'm thinking! I have to wait a month to heal from a previous surgery and then schedule my TAH. I can't decide if I should schedule it in...

Early June:
1. My 15 DD will be home to help with the two preschoolers
2. I will miss most of my DS's T-Ball Games
3. We have an inground pool that is a very big part of our family, I won't be able to swim.
4. I'd be home during the summer

or
Early August:
1. Do I want to wait that long? I'm tired of it!
2. I'd have the summer to swim with the kids
3. The weather is cooler
4. It's getting pretty close to the holidays, would I be able to take a vacation from work having just come back from 6 weeks off?

Why does the decision have to be so hard! I know it's mine to make but anybody out there have any words of wisdom?

Should I wait until August?

Shawn,

From your post I'd be leaning toward the June surgery. The help of DD with little ones would be valuable! Would you really have to miss most of the t-ball? You don't have to be housebound after your surgery but you can't drive for a couple of weeks. Could someone take you to the games? If your games are anything like the ones I went to last year with my son, they're relatively short - about an hour.

As far as swimming, ask your doctor about how long you would be restricted on that activity. Some would say as few as two weeks, some six or longer.

Do you have to drive kids a lot when school is in session? That would be worth factoring into the August date.

You're lucky that you get input. Mine was scheduled without consulting me as to what would be convenient but happened to land during a spring break for my kids. I was back home recovering when they went back to school with stern warnings to not miss the bus as I wouldn't be driving them if they did!

Good luck as you make your decision!
