Finally Free!!!! :)
HI everyone, first I want to say good luck to everyone who have their surgeries coming up. Believe it or not the surgery wasn't a problem for me, it was my IBS. Those of you who have read my posts the last few days know I have been suffering with severe constipation and gas....well.....my doc wanted to see me right away yesterday. Said I still have a bladder infection but shouldnt be causing the 102 fever everynight. He said that during surgery there is a certain amount of internal bleeding. They cauterize everything they need to but there is always some loose blood that has to be absorbed by the tissues inside. He said that can cause a fever as well but is nothing to worry about. Then he felt how huge my colon was and said ok....lets try this... a brand new laxative called GENTLAX...not all the stores have it yet, but the dr office did. The promised me I wouldnt need more than 2 pills and the next day I would feel great! It worked! I have gone twice today and what a difference. Just to show how bloated and hard my tummy was, he went to take off my steri strips cuz he felt they were ready...the minute he took them off, they opened and had to be retaped. Ew, kinda scared me. But that is the only soreness I have now is just the incision sites! I am so excited...I have more energy although I need to take it easy...only 8 days or so post op. So anyone with bowel problems pleez.....remember GENTLAX and ask your doctors!!!!

HEhehe! This is so great! I had some of the same problems after surgery... and I was so excited when I could finally "toot" (sorry ladies) and do a "number" (sorry again).
I didn't know that I could get so excited about such a thing!

SCARED,
I am so happy for you that you are finally free.
I had to laugh at all the responses of joy. It is funny how we get so excited about some bodily functions when we haven't been doing them:

Yes, thank you, you know I am taking notes on all this stuff so I profit from all of your wisdom!
I know you will all laugh at me but I am wondering how I will be able to sit down on the toilet with the incision, someone told me if you don't sit just right you split it open. Sounds like fun.
Knowing me I will be afraid to go!!

39, I have the same concern! How do we sit to pee, or especially for BMs, when I have been told I will not be allowed to sit upright for 2 weeks. Can you kind of recline on the toilet? I dehisced my lap incision rolling over in bed while asleep, and I am so worried about busting the TAH site wide open!
definitely one of my top ten fears!

don't think so
I had a TAH/BSO on the 25th of March, I also had a c-section 21 years ago. I sat up as soon as I wasn't dizzy anymore, have been sitting up for a week, and have never had any problems sitting on the toliet. My insicion is horizantal not vertical, but I really don't see any difference... Anybody else out there hear that you can't sit up for two weeks?????
Scaredinflorida Yiiippppiiiiii for you, I am sooo glad you are better.
God Bless
