I'm on bcps for HRT, just switched to Kariva, after Allesse, Ortho-Evra, and Yasmin didn't do the trick . But still feeling miserable, and gaining weight like you wouldn't believe. I am eating healthy, , and NO SODA! But I'm still blown up like a balloon, and have no energy.
Ladies, how do I convince my GYN to put me on REAL hormones, and not birth control pills?
It always worked like that for me when I was using it for birth control so I don't see why using it for HRT would be any different.
As to how to get through to him about not wanting it, maybe you should print off some of the alternatives and discuss them. Tell him why you aren't happy with the many BC pills he's prescribed and now it's your turn to tell him what *you* want to try. Maybe he'll humor you and go along with it. If not, maybe it's time to find a doctor who will.
I sure understand your frustration! This isn't an easy place to be.
There are many alternatives for HRT replacement. Personally, BCP's are not what I would want to be on, as generally, they contain much higher levels of estrogen than our bodies need after a hysterectomy.
Do explore your options.. Check out the Hormone Jungle Articles--and also research bioidentical/compounded hormones. You are your own best advocate. If your doctor is not willing to work with you on finding the right HRT for you, then perhaps it is time to find one who will. I found best results in my HRT dilemma with my family practice doctor. She is young and up on the latest with HRT replacement, and has been an absolute gem for my needs.
