Tis A Terrific Tuesday Apr 6th

Hello My BEST Friends

I am glad I am able to start todays thread while a few brain cells are functioning.

Thank you!! Thank you!! To all of you for your good wishes and many prayers for my DH. His surgery - yesterday now - went a bit off course, but fine. There were a few minor complications, the doctor and nurses are watching him closely in ICU, probably for the next several days. But he was awake (sorta) and stable when I left, and thank goodness, no calls from them so far.

Today - only milk for bkft as I didn't have the heart to eat in front of DH. MIL dragged me out of the waiting room for lunch in the hosp. cafeteria. I was good and had the flounder and green beans - but the fish was just about cold. Oh well, at least it got my mind off DH for a second or so.

Dinner was when I got home at 10pm - left over pasta with Portiguise (sp) Fishermens stew. Yummy!! We had a big family dinner yesterday and that's what I had made. So all in all - portions were good, and selections not bad. I did splerge when she went to Mickey D's and brought me back a hot fudge sundae. It was soooooooooo cold here today with snow flurries again today (yesterday all afternoon) - the ice cream never melted, even in the car.

Well, off to bed than back to hosp. tomorrow.

Congrats EMily - woo hoo for you!!!!
Tamara - glad your doing well!!!!

Everyone else - have a wonderful Terrific Tuesday and again Thanks - you all are the BEST!

Melissa ;-)

Good morning, all!

Melissa, my thoughts and prayers are with you and DH - hope everything goes a lot better today!

Tamara, welcome back! Wishes for a speedy recovery for you.

Emily, A W E S O M E !!! What a wonderful Mo!

Xena, how was your F&P? LOL Feel free to come out and finish my backyard when you're finished back there...

Jody, Happy Birthday! So glad to hear you got your surgery moved up.

to everyone else!

As to my report on my day of challenge -
Bfast - according to plan - f & p
Lunch - tuna and a Pria bar - just as planned
Morning & afternoon snack - tea, peppermint in the morning, vanilla nut creme in the afternoon.
Gum - four pieces
Dinner - well, here's where the problem came in...I was OP, and it was a dinner from my posted menu - - - but it was Wed's dinner...Apparently a stupid person was inhabiting my body yesterday morning and she put the roast and other ingredients into the crockpot and turned it on but neglected to plug it in....Upon our return home last night we found a mess in the crockpot instead of dinner (I just know it was because of DST! LOL). DH stepped up and volunteered to grill burgers and saved the day. My dinner was a grilled sirloin low fat burger on a wheat bun with a little burger sauce, a slice of tomato and chopped onions with fifteen Natural cheetos and a mint skinny cow.

Soooo Monday's dinner is in the garbage, Wed's dinner was eaten Monday, Tuesday's dinner remains the same and Wed's dinner is now going to be grilled pork chops (a rerun of Night of the Chops??) and cole slaw.

Other than that snafu - things are coming along fine with my challenge week so far.

I was OP yesterday and will be today. Exercise in a few hours when everyone else gets up. Fiber and potassium for bfast, tuna/tomato salad for lunch and turkey sandwiches for dinner.

Much as I just love (sic) I'm willing to pass him on to anyone who would like to spend some time with him...These early morning forays into hot flash land are just not working out for me. I am so looking forward to discussing this with my dear doctor on the 19th with hopes she has a solution to aid in moving him permanently out of NID.

I hope you all enjoy a wonderful OP spring Tuesday! As for myself - I am going to stay away from complicated electrical appliances today. Not too many ways I can screw up turkey sandwiches...

Hi all --

Tamara -- so good to hear from you, I had been wondering how you were doing. 's and wishes for a speedy healthy recovery and I hope this is the end to your pain and problems!!

Melissa -- 's to you to and I also hope your dh has a healthy recovery with no complications.

Toni -- golf clubs!! I imagine that would be a great way to work off some stress!!

Yesterday was not OP for me..........no way, no how. Mom called and said she wasn't feeling well (upset stomach) and decided she didn't want to go to Passover dinner at my cousin's.........so of course I stressed about that and worried what was REALLY wrong with her (although she called again later on and said she was feeling better but just wasn't up to going to the dinner, so of course then I wondered if it was just her way of getting out of it for some reason). I ended up eating leftover macaroni & cheese and asparagus for lunch, and my original plan had been to eat lighter than that, but with the guys here putting in the patio door and other stuff going on it was just easier to throw that in the microwave than anything else at the time. And dinner last night........well............let's just say that good Jewish food is not exactly lowcal or lowfat, ya know?!?

However...........today is a new day and I'm headed to the gym........if I get there early enough I'll get on the elliptical before Tone2Stone and burn off some of those calories!! And after gym dh and I are going shopping for some type of new blinds for the new patio door so more walking (and maybe pushing him around as well part of the time).

Dinner is going to be a beef roast that is marinating in the fridge, mashed potatoes (made lite) and either peas or corn. Lunch will be salad with some type of protein.........chicken or tuna or something. I've been managing to stay out of the candy our buddy brought from England. (Been too busy to get into it!!) And we didn't bring home any leftover goodies from dinner last night so no temptations there!!

A while back I got a form for a FREE Cooking Light 2004 cookbook and it arrived yesterday in the mail. WOW!! It's a huge hardbound book and full of a year's worth of Cooking Light recipes...........I'm already eye-balling a banana bread recipe..........
I think an old cookbook I never use anymore is coming off the shelf and this one is going to replace it!!

Jody --

Emily -- Congratulations and I'm really proud of you, you've been doing TERRIFFIC

Gotta run!!

Good morning!

Tamara - glad all is well...hope you continue to feel better

Melissa - glad the dh is doing OK...please take care of yourself

Jody - Happy Belated Birthday

Sandi - loved your crockpot story!

Well, I've had my SBD breakfast...had the southwest eggbeaters & they were spicier than I had anticipated. The V8 juice with lemon is very tastey.

Lunch will be eaten "out" as I will be in town w/appointments, including the accountant for taxes. I plan to go to a natural foods restaurant & have one of their yummy salads.

Dinner is roasted chicken breasts, although I have to figure out how to decently roast little skinless chicken breasts. Any hints or ideas sisters? I'm thinking of putting a dry rub on them and wrapping in foil.

Our dog is at the vets today for a little surgery...she'll have to wear one of those horrid plastic cones on her head for a week...she will not be a happy

catch ya' all later
bliss

Good Morning Ladies!

Yesterday was the first day of my challenge and I remained OP all day despite having to work later than I had planned. Dinner had to be modified because by the time I got home it was just to late to cook. So yesterday I ate the following:
Breakfast: cottage cheese - didn't have time to cook the eggs, I overslept
Lunch: wrap from Subway - I eat there almost everyday because it is right next door to where I work
Snack: low-carb Cookies and Caramel Pria Bar
Dinner: salad w/bacon bits, 6 Laughing Cow Cheezbits, and one piece of deer sausage
Snack: 2 Carb Solutions Ice Cream Sandwiches - should have only had one, but couldn't resist a second one

Today is OP so far. Breakfast was Fiber One and 2 slices of low-carb toast. Morning snack will be Laughing Cow Cheezbits (they're addictive). Lunch will be a salad or maybe a tuna wrap.
Dinner will be the Mexican Lasagna that I planned on making last night.

Melissa, my prayers are with your husband as he recovers from his surgery. Emily, congratulations on the weight and inches that you have lost! Sandy, sorry to hear about your crockpot disaster...sounds like something I would do.

Everyone else, have a great day!

Good Morning All! I did very well yesterday OP wise. Got in my walk. Made about 40 trips up and down the basement stairs cleaning stuff out still. All of my food items were right on plan. I went and gave blood and my iron must be better. That little drop fell right to the bottom this time. No spinning required. (And I took extra iron last night so I don't get low again, I'll probably do that for several days now).
Today, no menu plan for me. Breakfast and lunch will be cottage cheese with fruit and/or tomatoes. Dinner might be out, but I'll make some wise choices. If not out, then dinner will be ground steak patties on the grill with lots of tomatoes and onions cut up. (Open face burgers ).
Snacks, if needed will be dry roast nuts, or some fruit. (Love fruit).

Melissa, Thanks for the update on DH. I hope today is a better day for him and you now.

to everyone! Got to run some errands!

Thank-you so much ladies! You guys are what keep me going some days! I followed my menu for yesterday to a T. Went to to Curves as well. Had loads of laundry to do , too, so going up and down the stairs several times counts for exercise, doesn't it? Will stay OP for today along with Curves very shortly.

Tomorrow's menu...

Breakfast.....three cheese omelette and an apple.

Lunch....left over wheat pasta with sauce and veggies with low fat dip.

Dinner.....homemade veggie soup and a meat and cheese salad.

Snacks........piece of cheese and sugar-free jello with Cool Whip Free!

Special s to Melissa and Tamara!

Good luck to all with their challenges. May today be a better day for those of you struggling. We can do this! Gotta run........

Sorry to have been MIA so much. Got a note from Emily this morning (thanks) and decided I should check in. I hope you're all OP and doing great.

My weight is status quo. Not up, not down. I guess that's ok under the circumstances. Off topic, but my mother is finally expected to end her many year battle with cancer any time. Sounds awful, but I hope its over soon for her sake. No one should be that ill and she has been completely delusional and terrified for about 4 weeks which makes it even worse.

So when its all over, I'll be back and participating in the challenges and toning up this flabby body. Until then, be well, be OP.
