catheter?????

And heres another goofy question from northlights!!!

Has anyone had to go home from the castle with a catheter still in???? I am so afraid of this! If you had one was it due to bladder repair? My mom went home with one for like 2 weeks, and it was awful for her.

I think I'm giving myself reasons to have an anxiety attack

catheter?????

Hi Northlights!!

I've been told I'll probably go home with a catheter, I'm having a bladder sling put in. And the urologist said sometimes I might have to self-cath after that!!! It hurts enough to have someone else do it, I don't know if I can.:eyes:

catheter?????

Hi northlights,
I was very afraid of the catheter. They had one on me when i came out of surgery. then took it out, put it back in, took it out, then put it back in.... (kind of like yes you need it/ now you don't/ now you need it/ now you don't....LOL)
It was not big deal... even when they put it in. I was surprised. I thought it would be terrible...
I hope you don't have to go home w/ one, but if you do... it might not be that bad.
Don't worry. Things will go well for you!

catheter?????

I only had a catheter for a TVH(no bladder problems) the first night & I really did NOT even feel or mind it as I didn't have to get up to pee. The nurse took it out early the next morning & even that didn't feel bad like I expected!! My mom also came home with a catheter from her TVH BUT she had bladder repair AND that was 27 yrs. ago!! So relax, OK--the whole thing is not that bad--I thought the worst was getting over all the drugs they put in you!!

catheter?????

thanks ladies
I feel a bit better now. I know I will have the cath in for the first night so I don't have to get up to pee. But if all goes well (praying that it does), then they will remove it the next morning.

Like I said, just finding reasons for anxiety!
I just needed to hear that it's not that bad.

s to all

catheter?????

I didn't have one after surgery but before I did.

I was having urinary retention so one of the catheters stayed in for 5 days.

It was kind of weird the first couple of days but after that I got use to it.

It wasn't horrible for me. They are very easy to empty. They gave me two different types, one for the day that pants or a long skirt would hide. The other was for evening. I just hooked it on a chair near my bed.

The alternative was worse.
