10 wk.Sisters still pooped?

I thought I was doing so much better. I've been back to work for four weeks, back to church, etc. This past week DH was sick with infection in his leg and I had to take care of him, plus grocery shop, work, etc. Thursday I cleaned house because I had a church women's mtg. here that night. Sunday I conducted worship at one of his churches because he was still not up to par. Yesterday we went to Charlotte, NC for a mtg. I had to attend. Left around 8:45, got home around 5 PM, having stopped to shop a little. I knew I was getting tired, but thought it was just normal.

This morning I got up at 8:15, ate breakfast, went back to bed and woke up at 4 PM!!! Feel like I could go back to bed right now and get a full night's sleep. I have no pain, just minimal soreness, nothing new for me post-op, just this wiped-out feeling.

Any other Sisters this far along post-op ever experience such fatigue?

I get that way ... I am 12 wks post-op today & returned to work 2 weeks ago. I was so used to taking my catnaps during the day while I was off that now I come home from work & just want to crawl into bed. I've never been really good with taking vitamins, but just recently started on Multi-Vitamins for Older Women hoping that they will help give me a little more energy. I now live for the weekends so that I can sleep as late as I want or nap when I want (which I usually do)

Hopefully this will pass soon ... I don't like feeling tired all the time ...

Although the initial recovery period is 6-8 weeks it can take many months to be completely healed. I think I was 4-5 months post-op when I finally felt back to "normal". Try to pamper yourself as much as you can. If you continued to be extremely fatigued you should mention it to your doctor - sometimes they want to check and make sure you are not anemic.

I think someone who never had a hyster issue would be tired as well. Man! That was a lot of stuff. I kind of think you could compare your situation to someone who has recovered from a broken leg. It takes time to build up the muscle tissue/strengh. Not to mention, how is your iron levels doing? That could make a difference to. How long has your body been suffering before you had your hyster? If you have suffered for months or years maybe it will take you longer to bounce back. Are you taking vitamins? Are you getting what you DH has...maybe your getting sick? At least you did get some sleep--so glad to hear that! I thought your not completely healed until 1 year after your surgery?

Thanks, ladies. I was taking OTC iron and used it all up last week. Maybe I need more, as I did bleed heavily for a long time before this surgery. I also had a D&C and laparascopy thirteen weeks before the hysterectomy, so maybe I'm still feeling the effects of that, too.

I think I'll buy some more iron pills and continue with that, also try to pamper myself a little more now that DH is feeling like himself again. This "hit the wall" feeling today really surprised me, though. Glad to know I'm not alone. This board is such a blessing!
