Adhesions?????

HI,
I am 8 months post op for removal of the ovaries, and severe adhesions. I am experiencing pain bad with in the last 2 months. I went to the DR on Friday and she said she felt like a big band of what she thinks are adhesions that returned. More on the right then anywhere else. SO she is sending me on Monday for a pelvic ultrasound. Is there anyway these can be stopped from reappearing. She put me on a med to help with the pain. But said that if they go in again, they will still reform. ANy ideas what I should ask or do. I just want to be over with this.
ANy feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Adhesions?????

Heathersue:

s

I am so sorry to hear you are having continuing adhesion problems. Some have had success with physical therapy. I have not tried that yet, myself, but may.

Hang in there and I hope you find a way to lessen/eliminate your pain, soon!

Adhesions?????

Oh ((((Heathersue))))) I'm so sorry you might already be dealing with the Adhesion Monster so soon after your sugery

I do not have personal experience with adhesions but, unfortunately, there way too many Road Dwellers who are. I'm sure they'll be around to share their insight very soon.

In the meantime, here's a link to our Resource Directory on Adhesions. You most likely will find some information to help you in search for answers:

One thing I do know about adhesions, is that, unfortunately, surgery usually doesn't resolve the problem: adhesions are the result of the scarring process that takes place in order to heal from surgery. In some of us, they become problematic and tend to cause pain. Removing them surgically will often result in additional adhesions

Sending lots of s your way and hoping and wishing that you'll find relief very soon.

Adhesions?????

I too have ongoing problems with adhesions and have been sent to many different Dr's to try to find answers. Currently I am trying physical Therapy and pain management . Try to find someone who specializes in pelvic pain management. I have learned that further surgery should be avoided unless you develope a bowel obstruction. The good news in that they are working towards FDA approval for supragel which has had very good results preventing the formation of adhesions. I have found a lot of good information at bamboobeach Link has been added to Links Directory in our Resources Database it is a support group for adhesion sufferers. Good luck to you

Adhesions?????

I too have fought the battle with adhesions. I went in for surgery 4 months post hyst for adhesions. Now 3 months after that lap, I'm feeling the pain again, and have decided to not undergo further surgical procedures unless it develops into serious complications. WIth my last lap, they coated my pelvis with interceed, which I feel did no good. I'm suffering wtih possible adhesions again, as well as possibly more endometriosis.

I feel that surgery just increases the risk for more adhesions, and the decision isn't to be taken lightly. It could be a never ending battle, with surgery after surgery, as seems to be the case with myself.

I'm sorry if I wasn't more help, but I wanted to let you know someone else out there is fighting the same battle, and you're not alone.

If you're comfortable with surgery, it may provide you a lot of pain relief, and you could end up just fine, never needing to see the inside of an OR again. Talk extensively with your doctors, and go with your heart.

Good luck

Laura
