Feeling pretty discouraged about discharge - have a question...

Hi, I had a total Vag hyst the beginning of Feb. and at my 6 week check up I was treated for granulation on the cuff. 1 week later I had to be treated with silver nitrate again. 10 days after that I was still not healed and he again treated me. So now after having silver nitrate 3x , I have to go back in on the 19th and if I am not healed he has scheduled cyrotherapy. My Dr told me that is was freezing the cuff and making a new wound - Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it the same as a Leep procedure? Can anyone tell me what to expect? I am very nervous and discouraged about the whole thing. (I just wish my body would get its act together.)
Thank-you for any information you'd be willing to share....

Sometimes it takes a few treatments of silver nitrate to get all the granulation. I had a total of 5 or 6 silver nitrate treatment till the discharge finally went away. You can click on the links below to hear my story and frustration.

Just when I thought it was over and then this......
Freezing for granulation? Advice please (graphic and embarrased)

Is dry underwear ever possible with total hysterectomies?

I did finally get better and the discharge went away at week 17. I never needed freezing just a bunch of silver nitrate and antibiotics to clear up an infection left over from surgery that took about three different antibiotics. I just want to wish you luck and say to hang in there. s

Thank-you for the links - they were helpful. Its comforting to know that others have been through this and found the light at the end of the tunnel!!
Hopefully this yucky yellow discharge will stop and I won't need the cyro. I can't wait to be dry

Feeling pretty discouraged about discharge - have a question...

I had to have the cryotherapy done several years ago after having a couple of abnormal paps.
It is uncomfortable and you get crampy but after that it's not so bad. It pretty much "freezer burns" that part of your body and then it gets a "scab". Then of course that has to heal and while doing so you have a discharge for a little while. It makes you feel yucky during that time and you can't take enough showers, but it's not as scary as actual surgery that you have already had.

Hi Mel. I've had cryotherapy for precancerous cervical cells. It may give you some cramping while they are doing it and afterwards for a little while. It really was not nearly as bad as my monthly cramps are! Afterwards, the cells that were frozen slough off. The length of time and the volume of your discharge will depend largely on how many cells were destroyed.

Sorry to hear you are having such a hard time healing. Hopefully this will do the trick!
