Swelly Belly????

I was just on the post op side & I was reading a lot about swelly belly? I know my belly is going to swell, but how long does it last? Some of the women were 5-6 weeks post op & still had really swelly bellies? Any answers or help greatly appreciated.
6 days & counting!!

Swelly Belly????

My Swelly Belly has gone down a lot in three weeks, however if I am up and around more than I should be I notice it comes back, I pop a couple Advil or motrin to help with the swelling and that seems to help.

Swelly Belly????

I had a LSH (Laproscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy). My belly was swollen for about 1 week. It went down daily during that week from 6 month pregnant size to normal. I am now two weeks post-op have a tiny part slightly swollen just above my lowest incision. Nobody else can see it. With my doctor's blessing, I returned to full work-outs at 13 days post-op (I am a fitness instructor). I kept waiting for the swelly belly, but no swelling!

Perhaps my results are because of the approach used for the hysterectomy. Whatever the reason, I am counting my blessings!

Good luck to you!

Swelly Belly????

I'm at 3 weeks post op and I have some swelling in the evening. Especially if I have had a busy day. I wore jammies home from the hospital but was in my regular clothes the next day. My uterus was quite big and caused my stomach to be swollen anyway. The swelling is going away but slowly.

Swelly Belly????

I have to say that I am really freaked out over this swelly belly thing. I have always been very obsessive about having a flat stomach & I am getting scared hearing how some women are still dealing with this issue at 6 months post op or even longer. I am having a TAH one week from today & I am really afraid that this condition will happen to me & that I will have a super hard time dealing with it. I know that I am worrying about something that hasn't even happened yet but I can't seem to help myself. Summer is right around the corner and while I know I must sound really vain, I have taken alot of pride in the fact that at 41 yrs. old I can still wear a bikini. I know there is nothing I can do to prevent the dreaded "swelly belly" but I just needed to get this off my chest. Thanks for listening.

Swelly Belly????

Here's hoping you'll be back in a bikini by July! I know when you work so hard to achieve something and by no fault of your own it is taken from you it is hard. I have a puffy tummy now thanks to my endo. I will be glad when working my abs will actually show. I have my "Roxy" in my drawer waiting. I WILL wear it this year, I WILL I WILL I WILL!
Take care,
Carrie

Swelly Belly????

I am 3 1/2 weeks post op. My belly has gone down, but I can't say that it was every really bad. I could fit into my clothes but did not want to. Tightness on the incision is uncomfortable. I was able to put jeans on yesterday and work them for 6 hours and then I had to get them off. It does get better. I used an ice back the first 2 weeks and the swelling did go down more.

Swelly Belly????

i keep waiting for the dreaded swelly belly to come but so far so good. I'm into my 3rd week and my tummy is so much flatter now that the big uterus is gone. I can fit into my clothes except they rub my incision. Is it something that just hasn't happened yet or did i get lucky...keeping my fingers crossed

Swelly Belly????

I too am worried about the "swelly belly". I have an enlarged uterus, is that why my tummy if bloated "down there" anyway? I do sit ups and it never seems to show much - ohh! Maybe I need to stop eating chocolate and lose some weight??? LOL

What I am hoping is that I CAN lose some weight after my hyster - am I too hopeful???
