stabbing pains
i had a tah on the 30 march, keeping my ovaries and cervix, and up until this week have been doing well. i have now started to get stabbing pains periodically during the day around my abdomen from just below my belly button down to where my ovaries are. After the pain subsises i get a pink discahrge- not a lot of it but i stopped bleeding 4 days post op. Is this normal and is anyone out there suffering the same. I also feel abnormally tired this week-am i just expecting too much too soon.

stabbing pains
Jammybird,
I would ask your dr. about the bleeding but I think that is normal. I had a TAH/BSO on March 25. They took everything, even the cervix, which I didn't know until I went for my three week check up. I have no problem with him taking everything as he explained that that is one less problem in the future with cancer. I had an Aunt who had, I believe cervical and ovarian cancer many years back. Cancer runs in my family. The stabbing pains is likely from the nerves healing and becoming active again. Your body has went through a tremendous shock. This is my third surgery down there (c-section, tubal ligation and TAH/BSO). I was getting the pains and much of it was from gas or before having a bowel movement. If you have a lot of bleeding, call you dr. To give you peace of mind, call him/her anyway. Never be afraid to ask questions, no matter how embarrassing they are. They have heard it all and seen it all.
I went for my check up yesterday and had made a list of questions. My uterus was twice the size that it should have been and had adhesions galore. The adhesions were from the endometriosis and he felt I had this back when I was a teen. The incision is doing fine but had opened back up a bit. I just use peroxide with a little gauze over the opening. Dr. says it is healing fine and keep doing everything that I have been doing.
The point is, ask questions. If you have a problem remembering them, write them down. You will be fine. And don't be surprised if some areas of the stomach have no feeling. Even after having a c-section and tubal 18 years ago, there are still areas that I have little or no feeling. Don't be surprised either if the area below you belly button down to the incision becomes very sensitive and painful to the touch. That will pass also.
I hope this helps you and good luck.

stabbing pains
Hi~
I had an abdominal TH on the 29th. I also have stabbing pains. Not sure what they are but my dr said not to worry...hmmm, I know that doesn't help much but then, my dr hasn't really been on top of me through this whole thing...
Hang in there!
