Stairs

How many of you have two story houses?
Day 3 post op I came home and climbed the stairs one time. Day 4, stayed upstairs, Day 5 and 6, one trip down and back, Day 7 and 8, four trips up and down. Well today is Day 9, and I am preparing myself for a trip down. The stairs are more tiring then anything else I have done!
Anybody got any good stair advice or stories?

Do to some weird complications I was to the docs office everyday after surgery for a week! She just cationed me about taking them slow as it was something I did all the time.Used to be able to run up and down ...not now lol!

Stairs

I know about those stairs! I live in a second floor apt... A tip to help get down them that my step mom mentioned and someone else brought up. Go down the stairs sideways facing rail. Put one foot on stair, nextfoot on same stair. The next foot goes down the next step then next foot on the stair and so on and so on. Hanging on both arms helps. I only went out once a day for my walks and that was it maybe twice to get mail. Otherwise I was a good girl.

Stairs

We have 16 stairs b/t floors and I COUNTED everyone. The steps were the worst!!!

My DR said watch them for the first week or so. Don't overdo it. They still tucker me out.

I wish we had a ranch.

Stairs

I am just over three months post-op. Fortunately, I was one of the lucky ones because stairs did not become an issue for me. I also live in a 2-storey house and went up the stairs the day I got home with no problem. I started up the stairs like normal and was surprised when I realized it hadn't fazed me! I, too, had been warned about not climbing them more than once a day for the first while. I have always exercised at the pool twice a week and walked a lot and I think that helped me cope with the post-surgery recovery.

Good luck to everyone who is waiting for their surgery. It was the best decision I've made and I have no regrets.
